The Ingrid Bergman® Rose Tree needs to be planted in a protected location in full sun and with good air circulation. Hybrid Tea Roses perform best in a minimum of 6 hours of direct sunlight a day and this specimen Rose is worth pruning away a few tree branches and cutting back a shrub or two just to give her all the sun she needs! Think of it as getting her ready for her close-up! Roses are especially appreciative of the morning sunlight to dry their leaves of dew, reducing any instance of a disease or mildew.

This modern Rose is very disease-resistant! Provide moderate yet consistent moisture at the roots and avoid splashing the leaves with excess moisture. Support the repeat bloom with regular applications of a quality Rose fertilizer throughout the growing season. Plant in very well-enriched, heavily organic well-drained soil and a 3-4 inch thick layer of mulch around the root system. Keep mulch and debris out of the crown, maintaining an open interior for air circulation and sunlight.

Rose Tree Care & Pruning

Some winter protection for Tree Form Roses is suggested for the colder zones 5 and 6 and some of zone 7 too by overwintering in an unheated garage after it goes dormant, or outside with straw and burlap wrap. Then in spring, take it back out or unwrap it and trim the head back to about a 1-2 foot sphere just as it begins to grow again in spring.

Early each spring, after the last frost of the year has passed, it's always a good idea to prune back the Rose tree several inches to maintain the nice round form atop its trunk. Keep new blooms returning with occasional deadheading, quickly improving your overall display.
