Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Growing Zones 4-8
Bright fuchsia Daisies smothering the ground, the hardy Table Mountain® Ice Plant (Delosperma 'Table Mountain') has 1-2 inch wide, brightly colored, fuchsia Daisy-like blooms that just smother the plant throughout the entire summer!
The Ice Plant earned its name from the remarkable juicy fat leaves that reflect the light and sparkle like ice crystals in the sun! Table Mountain is a rocky mountain overlooking Cape Town South Africa where these remarkable plants hail from!
Forming low-growing mats of lush, deep-green, succulent-looking foliage, the fleshy leaves are extremely shiny! Growing just 2-3 inches tall, but spreading up to 18 inches wide, these fast-growing xeric flowering groundcover plants can remain evergreen to semi-evergreen in mild winter climates!
Table Mountain® is the perfect, fast-spreading, dazzling groundcover on slopes or in borders for hot, dry, and sunny locations throughout USDA planting zones 4 to 8! Butterflies adore the blooms and bees go crazy for the ample nectar and pollen these blooms provide! However, deer and rabbits rarely bother with these succulent plants.
Planting and Application:
Delosperma is a fantastic plant for tricky, harsh areas in the sun garden because they do not require much water once established, yet fill in very quickly. Ice Plants make great underplantings for Xeric Shrubs and garden filler throughout water-wise landscaping beds! Happily naturalizing throughout sandy, rocky, or gravel beds among other like-water usage plants like Yucca, Agave, Ornamental Grass, Sedum, Mangave, and Yarrow.
Delosperma looks gorgeous as a groundcover throughout a Rock Garden, Alpine rockery, or in front of a perennial border as edging! Line a sun-drenched, or parched sidewalk, pathways border, or roadside hell strip with cheerful fuschia blossoms and jewel-like succulent foliage!
As a groundcover, Delosperma is very useful in preventing erosion. Plant them 12 inches on center in a checkerboard or zigzag pattern on a hard-to-mow slope or eroding hillside in the sun, or en masse throughout a stretch of poor soil where little else can grow. Even in a mixed planter as a filler and spiller on sunny porches and patios, Table Mountain® will bring easy-going cheer!
Salt-tolerant and loving sandy dunes along coastal gardens and seaside landscapes, Delosperma do just as well in that patch of roadside earth that may get a bit of salt spray. Xeric gardening is a hot trend right now, but for gardeners in the Southwestern US, and Delosperma are also great for Xeriscaping and Fire-wise landscaping!
- Fuchsia Colored Daisy-Like Flowers
- Nectar & Pollen For Bees, Butterflies & Other Beneficial Insects
- Very Low-Growing Groundcover - Blooms All Summer
- Fills In Quickly!
- Fleshy Succulent-Like Green High-Gloss Foliage
- Fantastic In Harsh, Sunny Conditions & Sand Dunes Along Beaches
- Great En Masse, Containers, Edging, Erosion Control & Borders
#ProPlantTips for Care:
For best results, plant Table Mountain® in a sunny area, with some afternoon shade, with very well-drained soil. Soggy conditions and poor drainage will not suit this plant at all. It does prefer drying out between waterings, in gravel, rocky, and sandy environments, and especially does not like wet soil in the winter.
Water as needed during the first year in the ground to establish a deep, healthy root system using the Finger Test, allowing them to dry out some between waterings. Afterward, Delosperma are very low-water usage plants. But for the best flowering display, provide some summer watering during prolonged drought and excessive heat. Back off watering in early autumn so they can go into fall a bit drier, that way they can harden off before winter.
All plants appreciate a 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch to hold moisture underground and insulate the roots. Mulch also helps keep soil from splashing on and covering the low-growing foliage, for a neater, cleaner look. If you live in an area that receives heavy snowfall in the winter, it is recommended you protect these succulent perennials with loose row covers or frost blankets.
