#ProPlantTips for Care:

Hot Cocoa™ Rose Tree is a deciduous tree that appreciates being planted in well-drained soil. Containers work extremely well for this specimen. It also loves soaking up as much sun as it can so planting somewhere in full sun is a good idea. Site selection is actually the most important aspect. Making sure the soil is well draining is important as well! Growing Roses in outdoor containers or in the ground requires a consistent schedule of supplemental moisture. Don't forget to add a thick layer of Mulch.

Rose Trees are easy to maintain and extremely disease-resistant! No need to worry about common Rose ailments anymore! Fertilize each spring with a slow-release or controlled-release fertilizer should do the trick and leave your shrub happier and healthier than ever.

Rose Tree Care & Pruning

Some winter protection for Tree Form Roses is suggested for the colder zones 5 and 6 and some of zone 7 too by overwintering in an unheated garage after it goes dormant, or outside with straw and burlap wrap. Then in spring, take it back out or unwrap it and trim the head back to about a 12" sphere just as it begins to grow again in spring.

Early each spring, after the last frost of the year has passed, it's always a good idea to prune back your Rose by trimming the head back to about a 12" sphere to maintain the nice round form atop its trunk. Keep new blooms returning with occasional deadheading, quickly improving your overall display.

Prune away suckers and branching that forms at the base or on the trunk each year too. Pruning Roses allows for better, bushier growth each year and stimulates new growth.
