The Satisfaction Hosta (Hosta 'Satisfaction') is an incredibly spectacular and dramatic gold-edged sport of Piedmont Gold Hosta. Satisfaction is bordered by wide leaf margins that are light green at first, and then turn bright gold in early summer.

The gold margins get to be about 2 inches wide at maturity for a gilded flash of color in the shade garden! It will have an impact on any area of your shade garden, and the margins turn cream if placed in a sunny location! Summer brings trumpet-shaped blossoms to attract a following of Hummingbirds and pollinators as they stop by to visit the nectar-rich near-white flowers atop the clump in midsummer on tall slender stems called scapes. Satisfaction is a low-mounded and stunning Hosta.

So delightfully easy to grow, Satisfaction is perfect for even the most novice gardeners! Cold-hardy, plus heat and humidity resistant, Hostas thrive in a broad range of growing zones throughout USDA 3 to 9. Growing just over two feet tall and a bit over 3 feet wide, these fountain-like clumps of cascading foliage all growing season!

Planting and Application:

Satisfaction is most at home in shady, woodland settings and often works well as a specimen or colorful shade garden accent! Hosta edging and facer plants look great along garden bed and border boundaries or along shaded paths and driveways. Plant Hosta along the fronts of hedges and beneath larger shrubs and trees where they can bask in the larger plants' shade.

Great for landscapes big and small, and even those without a yard at all! Satisfaction is ideal in shade or woodland gardens of all sizes! But these wonderful foliage ornamentals also look fantastic in oversized containers and large planters on shaded porches and covered patio seating. However, these low-maintenance perennials are excellent used in mass as a lovely bi-color groundcover!

  • Large Green Leaves With Wide Margins

  • Pollinators & Hummingbirds Adore Them
  • Nearly-White Trumpet-Shaped Blooms on Tall Slender Scapes

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Plant this low-care Perennial in an area that receives the right amount of light. The leaves need some morning sun to bring out the best coloration; too much sun will burn the leaves. Hostas grow best in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5. Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots. Top-dress with a 3 - 4 inch thick layer of arborist mulch over the soil surface, especially in dry shade conditions. Deadhead Hostas as soon as the flowers fade for a tidy look, and in fall when these herbaceous Perennials die back from the cold, it's time to prune the mound clean and remove the dead foliage. Divide your Hosta clumps every 3-5 years to maintain vigor. It is best to keep areas around Hostas clear of excess leaf debris to reduce the presence of slugs and snails.

  • Full Shade Perennial Also Tolerates Partial Shade
  • Moist Well-Drained Enriched Soil
  • Low-Maintenance & Remarkably Easy Care
  • Deadhead After Flowering & Prune Late Fall After Frost
  • Cold Hardy & Humidity Tolerant

With color-changing margins and brilliant colors, Satisfaction is one of the most show-stopping Hostas in any garden! Hurry and reserve your own at Nature Hills Nursery before they're gone!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Hostas need full sun or shade?

Hosta does best in full sun in cooler climates but does appreciate afternoon protection from the worst of the summer sun, especially in the hottest of their growing zone range. In the hottest climates, Hosta like partial shade or dappled shade, and some varieties will do great in full shade.

Where do Hostas grow best?

Hosta plants love enriched, well-drained soil that is moderately yet consistently moist throughout the growing season. They appreciate mulched garden beds.

Do Hostas come back every year? Are Hostas a perennial plant?

With vigorous carefree growth, Hostas are herbaceous perennial plants that will return year after year with little maintenance.

What do you do with Hostas in the fall? What do you do with Hostas in the winter?

Hosta leaves will die back after frost but the crowns and roots remain intact and dormant until next spring. Prune back the leaves once they turn brown in the autumn and remove them from the plant's area. For winter protection, add a layer of compost or mulch over the crowns to protect them from the chill.

Do Hosta attract hummingbirds or pollinators?

Hostas are loved by pollinators and hummingbirds! All walks of beneficial pollinators will show up to sip their nectar.
