Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Hosta Remember Me (Hosta 'Remember Me') is named in honor of Sandy De Boer, a former employee of Walters Gardens Inc. who died of breast cancer in 2001. Walters Gardens Inc. makes a donation for every Remember Me Hosta to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Remember Me Hosta is a beautiful white-centered selection of the lovely little June Hosta. The small mounds of creamy white foliage with blue-green margins demonstrate many of the same outstanding qualities of June - like good slug resistance and thick healthy foliage.

Lavender flowers add additional beauty to this Hosta! Not only are they gorgeous in bouquets and floating over the bi-color leaves, but they also attract loads of pollinators, butterflies, and Hummingbirds to your yard! Incredibly easy to grow throughout USDA growing zones 3 to 9 and reach 12-15 inches in height and spread to 16 to 20 inches wide.

Planting and Application:

Remember Me are excellent perennials for smaller areas or in front of the border as edging. Great as facer plants and skirting where Hostas can bask in their shade under their canopies. Line shady paths and driveways, or add delightful bright color to shade gardens, beds, and borders throughout Perennial gardens, Cottage gardens, Zen-inspired gardens, Pollinator borders, and even in containers and large planters when no yard is available!

Remember Me is most at home in shady, woodland settings and often works well as a specimen that lights up the gloom! Dappled shade beneath canopies of large trees, Moon gardens, and lighting up planters around covered porches and patios are all perfect locations for these bright foliage ornamentals.

  • White Leaves with Blue Green Margins
  • Lavender Flowers on Tall Scapes
  • Bees, Butterflies, & Hummingbirds
  • Highly Adaptable & Versatile Ornamental Perennials
  • Facer Plants & Edging, Containers, Shade Accents & Specimens

#ProPlantTips for Care:

The leaves need some morning sun to bring out the best coloration. Too much sun will burn the leaves. Hostas grow best in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5. Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots. It is best to keep areas around hostas clear of excess leaf debris to reduce the presence of slugs and snails. Low maintenance and easy care, there's not much work for you! A generous 3-4 inch thick layer of mulch chips helps retain soil moisture as well as insulate the root system from heat and chill. Once frosts arrive, Hostas are herbaceous Perennials that dies back to the ground and emerges again in early spring. Be sure to remove dead leaf matter from the area to prevent the spread of fungal issues and deter slugs. But it has excellent slug resistance and no disease issues! Divide every 3-5 years to keep the clump vigorous.

  • Full Shade Lovers & Partial Shade/Sun
  • Moderate Moisture Needs
  • Loves Enriched Well-Drained Soil
  • Prune Once Foliage Dies in Fall
  • Very Easy Care & Low Maintenance & Pest Free

Remember Me Hosta honors not only Sandy, but the thousands who also fight this life-threatening disease every day!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Hostas need full sun or shade?

Hosta does best in full sun in cooler climates but does appreciate afternoon protection from the worst of the summer sun, especially in the hottest of their growing zone range. In the hottest climates, Hosta like partial shade or dappled shade, and some varieties will do great in full shade.

Where do Hostas grow best?

Hosta plants love enriched, well-drained soil that is moderately yet consistently moist throughout the growing season. They appreciate mulched garden beds.

Do Hostas come back every year? Are Hostas a perennial plant?

With vigorous carefree growth, Hostas are herbaceous perennial plants that will return year after year with little maintenance.

What do you do with Hostas in the fall? What do you do with Hostas in the winter?

Hosta leaves will die back after frost but the crowns and roots remain intact and dormant until next spring. Prune back the leaves once they turn brown in the autumn and remove them from the plant's area. For winter protection, add a layer of compost or mulch over the crowns to protect them from the chill.

Do Hosta attract hummingbirds or pollinators?

Hostas are loved by pollinators and hummingbirds! All walks of beneficial pollinators will show up to sip their nectar.
