This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

If you've got a tough, shady spot in your yard that stays dim and shady, be grateful! This is exactly the place to use the cheery chartreuse and yellow foliage of the cascading Edmee Gold™ Honeysuckle Bush (Lonicera nitida 'Briloni')! These hard-working golden shrubs feature layers of branches that produce a showy cascade!
Starting in spring, you'll relish the tiny, creamy-white flowers and so will butterflies and hummingbirds. There aren't many plants that grow into such a valuable nectar resource in the shade! All season long, the incredible foliage brightens your shaded areas with a charming glow. Because the rounded leaves are perfectly opposite each other on the branch, there is even an air of formality about Edmee Gold™.
The contrast between the formal leaf arrangement and the wild-layered branches is quite noteworthy. You'll feel like you installed a living artwork, with a depth of contrast to keep your interest forever. In the fall, you'll be delighted with the attractive purplish berries of unclipped Edmee Gold™ plantings and so will your local songbirds!
Also called Box Honeysuckle, Edmee Gold™ will attract beneficial pollinators and birds, but is blissfully deer and rabbit resistant! Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 5 to 8, this Lonicera thrives about anywhere! These gorgeous broad-leaved evergreens keep their foliage all year long in warmer Zones, while further north, they may behave as semi-evergreens!
Planting and Application:
Turn a landscape challenge into a showpiece in your garden design! Use several vibrant Edmee Gold™ for the best impact, and allow them to form an exceptional, textured mound of arched branches. Let this low-growing groundcover work hard to provide golden-yellow illumination just where you need it! This waterfall effect can also occur in a narrow raised planting bed filled with a single species planting. Commercial properties can easily draw the eye of prospects using this technique.
Keep them clipped if you'd like or let them grow as they will for a free-form, sculptural effect! You'll love the look of these carefree groundcover plants in a wooded property! Use a stand of Edmee Gold™ to brighten up the understory of mature trees. Naturalize several of them at the top of a retaining wall to soften the look.
Use this shade-loving plant to stabilize tricky slopes, as erosion control and to fill a hard-to-mow hillside! If you have a slope, try a gorgeous display of these undulating shrubs. On slopes, plant them in a staggered, zigzagging planting pattern. Plan for the mature spread of each plant, and let them "do their thing" for you. To create a solid mat of these brilliant groundcover shrubs, plant them two to three feet apart on center. The closer together you plant, the faster the results will be.
These graceful golden Honeysuckles light up your shade gardens and take to pruning like champs! They have been even used to create cunning trimmed topiary! Prune your passion project to shape in early spring!
- Golden-Yellow Foliage Brightens Dim Corners
- Cascading Texture, Arching, Layered Stems & Sculptural Visual Effect
- Creamy-White Flowers in Late Spring Support Pollinators
- Small Purple Berries Feed Birds
- Beautiful Opposite Leaves Look Symmetrical
- Excellent Groundcover, Erosion Control, En Masse, Safer Than Turf on Slopes
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Give Edmee Gold™ Lonicera a position in partial shade or full shade in well-drained soils. They'll need less than four hours of direct light a day for the best coloration. Requiring a bit less water once established, apply a moderate amount of water on a regular basis for best results, but pay especially close attention to watering during their first season as their roots are getting established. Create a raised bed if your soil stays soggy after a rain event. You can also mound up additional soil and create an elevated planting site. Prune in late winter or very early spring to shape and keep the shrub tidy.
- Partial Shade & Full Shade
- Moderate Moisture Needs & Well-Drained Soil
- Can Be Tightly Sheared & Prune When Dormant
- Deer & Rabbit Resistant
- Remains Evergreen in Warm Climates
