Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Beautiful bright lavender-pink flowers are held aloft on long stalks above the grassy mound. Look closely to see the raised orange centers.
Cut a bunch of them and create the sweetest little bouquets. Take them to your foodie friends as a cunning little Hostess Gifts for gourmet dinner parties.
The blooms last and last. You'll enjoy several months of flowers from early spring through summer.
Garlic performs best if the heads are separated into individual cloves and planted in the fall of the year. Fall planted garlic will give you nice sized bulbs and cloves. Your garlic cloves will develop roots and grow all fall. Your garlic will keep developing right up until the soil freezes. Come spring time, your garlic plants will start growing early and strong which will make nice large bulbs of garlic that can be harvested in July or so depending upon where you are located.
Even when not in bloom, the clumping mounded foliage is beautiful. Himba leaves are fleshier and wider than other Society Garlic varieties. Their flower stalks are also wider-spreading.
This is a bold variety to add spicy edible and visual interest to your landscape. It's also quite versatile in garden design application.

How to Use Himba Society Garlic in the Landscape
These wonderful grassy evergreen perennials can be used equally as well in colorful Children's Gardens or in sophisticated formal designs. Their mounded shape, everlasting color and airy flowers become an important detail at ground level.
Use a row of them as a low hedge along your vegetable garden. Or create a charming display with several in high-end decorative pots near your outdoor barbeque.
It can become a perfect groundcover or mass planting in a sunny site. Plant 12 inches apart on center, measuring from the center of one to the center of the next. Put the root side down and pointed side up into the loosened soil and cover with an inch or two of soil and water in well.
With Himba, you might notice a mild garlic scent as you brush past the leaves. Allow a bit of leeway for foot traffic by placing it two feet away from the edge of paths and sidewalks.
Enjoy coming up with creative ways to use them. They add a witty sensibility to the landscape. Include Himba and other special varieties of Society Garlics to layer in a lot of interest in a small space.
Live in cold winter zones? Use them as a noteworthy season container plant. They make amazing "Fillers" in mixed arrangements, or look great as a single species planting.
#ProPlantTips for Care
Don't let the delicate looks fool you. Once established in your soil, Himba is a tough little plant. Give it full sun for best results with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight a day.
Having said that, Himba will also live in partial shade settings. Container grown plants will do best with full sun.
It's able to tolerate low water conditions, but you'll get more flowers with regular amounts of moderate water.
Prune off spent flower stalks down to the ground, leaving the green and healthy leaves. Clip back yellowing leaves to the base of the crown, as needed.
These rugged plants will thrive in the right setting. Once established, you'll enjoy many months of beautiful light purple flower clusters. Add Himba Society Garlic to your landscape this season!
