Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Multi-color and reblooming? You'll definitely turn heads when you plant the incredible HI™ Fire Bigleaf Hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla 'Fire')! Whether it's a single specimen or a hedge, these are unique landscape adornments either way!

The deep green, quilted foliage is the perfect backdrop for these incredible mophead blooms! Starting a bright green as buds, then retaining some of that green as the bracts and blooms become purplish-red or pink depending on the pH of your soil. These dense clusters of blossoms and their intense two-tone contrasting hues really catch the eye like nothing else, and they bloom - then rebloom - all summer until fall!

HI™ Fire is heat and humidity tolerant in growing zones 6 through 9, handling some sun, but preferring part shade and afternoon shade best. Maturing as a tall oval form 4-5 feet high and 3-5 feet in width, these can be pruned smaller to accommodate any sized yard, hedge or planter!

Planting and Application:

HI™ Fire sets perennial and mixed-shrub borders alight with vibrant color and contrast! Be sure to plant a few extras so you'll have some of these incredible blooms to bring indoors for your floral arrangements, a few for pollinators, and more for when winter arrives and these blooms become tan pompoms that look gorgeous in dried floral décor.

Bigleaf Hydrangeas are dense deciduous shrubs and look phenomenal as hedges and low privacy screens. Plant along the shady side of your foundation or as an eye-catching barrier between your front yard and the sidewalk. This is a property-defining friendly fence that your neighbors won’t mind at all! Prune smaller to fit into containers and planters, or to allow any sized property to accommodate one of these fantastic flowering shrubs!

  • Purplish-Red & Green Highlights
  • Reblooming Dense Mophead Blooms
  • Color Change in Acid Soils
  • Deep Green Compact Foliage
  • Great for Hot Climates

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Hydrangea does best in the afternoon shade but can take full sun in cooler summers. Plant in a very well-enriched and well-drained soil that remains consistently moist, especially during the summer months. Provide a thick layer of mulch to retain moisture and insulate the roots from heat.

Most Hydrangea bloom on last year's wood so don't cut them back in fall or spring - but wait to see if any pruning needs to be done to remove any dead branch tips as they begin to grow in spring. As the plants age, it is best to remove a few of the oldest fattest canes out to the ground leaving in some younger stems for best bloom. Old blooms can be removed in fall or spring.

  • Full Sun & Part Sun
  • Mulch Well & Maintain Consistent Moisture
  • Alkaline Enriched Well-Drained Soil
  • Prune Early Spring As New Growth Emerges
