Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Big white three-pointed stars, the Great White Trillium (Trillium grandiflorum) are going to be your new favorite woodland wildflower for your shade gardens this year! These quality bulbs produce a single pure white blossom atop a stem with just three pointed petal-like sepals and are backed by three large green leaves for a curious look like you’ve never seen before!

Trillium are rare wildflowers to come upon in the dappled forests. They can be found popping up in deep, organic woodlands and shady meadows with Lady’s Slippers and Jack-in-the-Pulpits. The early arrival of Trillium has given rise to many names including Wake Robin, Bethroot, and Stinking Benjamin, and had many old-world folk uses back in the day.

Trillium is shipped as a bareroot rhizomatous perennial that thrives throughout the USDA growing zones 3 through 9 and gradually colonizing small areas. Individual plants grow 12-18 inches tall and spread 12-24 inches wide at maturity. These tender perennial rhizomes bloom in the early spring beneath the tree canopy. Blooming for up to 2-3 weeks, the single bloom fades to become a solitary red, fleshy, berry-like fruit in the summer. Birds love the berries but deer tend to leave Trillium alone.

Planting and Application:

Gleaming White Trillium only bears a solitary flower per plant, so planting in groupings, drifts, and en masse helps to ensure the very best display! Disperse throughout the dappled shade meadow to gain the biggest impact! These rare woodland beauties look gorgeous guiding you along a shady moist footpath.

Early spring ephemerals with fall color, use these lovely specimens throughout a Rain Garden or bog garden, Plant around a water feature or along the bank of a brook. Create a woodland garden that looks good enough to attract pollinators and fairies alike as they ramble among the mosses, Ferns, and popping up amidst the Hosta!

  • Solitary 3-Pointed Gleaming White Blooms
  • Three Broad Leaves & Single Red Berry
  • Lovely Spring Ephemerals
  • Birds & Mammals Eat the Fruit
