To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Nature Hills sells a large variety of plants with several options available. Plants are offered in both potted containers and as dormant bare root without soil. Here is a helpful resource to understand your options as you create a beautiful landscape with help from Nature Hills.

Seasonally, Nature Hills offers hand selected, high quality bare root trees, shrubs and perennials. Bare root plants are sold by height from the top of the root system to the top of the plant. Plants may be taller than the height minimums.

Gleaming bright yellow Golden Alexander (Zizia aurea) are wetland members of the Carrot Family and have similar airy umbles of brilliant gold. The glossy toothy-edges leaves show off the tiny clusters of 5-petalled florets.
The reddish stems show off the yellow and greenery, and in the autumn the seedheads turn purple. Pollinators adore these bitty blooms, and the Black Swallowtail Butterfly uses these plants as their larval Host Plant!
The Golden Alexander blooms for several weeks and these hardy natives thrive throughout USDA growing zones 3 to 8. Growing 2-3 feet in height when in bloom, the 18-24 inch wide clumps that happily ramble through moist prairies and sunny meadows in a large swath of the US wilderness.
Planting and Application:
Golden Alexander happy naturalizes throughout the meadow or native Cottage Garden. Create native plantings by planting these perennials in groupings, and mixed borders in open sunny locations. Loving more moisture, plant near water and Rain Gardens, in Gutter gardens, and wherever you need a bright splash of airy yellow color!
Butterfly gardens and Mixed Perennial gardens gain easy-to-grow plants that will naturalize and even self-seed when allowed, spreading themselves politely throughout the sun to partial shade landscape. Snip a few of the flat-topped blooms for bright bouquet additions instead of letting them go to seed if you don’t wish for them to self-sow.

Plant Zizia in a sunny to partly sunny location in well-drained soil. These herbaceous perennials have deep taproots and love higher to average moisture locations throughout a wide range of hardiness zones.
