Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Flowering Onions, also known as Alliums, are one of the hottest trends in the gardening world and we don't see that changing any time soon!

Of all the Flowering Alliums you'll find, the Globemaster Allium (Allium x 'Globemaster') is likely the largest! This plant produces one huge cluster of perfectly purple blooms atop a tall, sturdy stalk. Such striking visual impact and color on an early-blooming bulb! If you've been searching for the biggest Allium you can buy, look no further!

The Globemaster Allium's heads are colossal! Each sphere hosts hundreds of tiny bluish-purple blooms in a starburst of vivid color. If you've never seen these in person, they look like something out of Willy Wonka or Alice in Wonderland. In fact, once yours bloom, don't be surprised to see passersby stop, stare, and go in for a closer inspection.

Your local pollinators will be coming in for visits as well! Be sure to plant extra for some of the most extraordinary floral bouquets you can imagine with the addition of these sturdy stems and brilliant balls of color!

These amazing Globemaster Alliums are impossible not to notice. They tower above most plants, reaching over three feet at times. Not only are these seedheads giants but they also last and last through until early summer! Many Globemaster Alliums will stay in-flower for weeks, beginning in late spring. There's no need to worry about these incredible blooms going to seed after either!

The strappy green clumps of upright foliage appear with the spring-flowering bulbs and provide great backdrop contrast to their blooms. The sturdy flowering stems soon appear and look like fireworks rising above your other garden plants!

Planting and Application:

These Globemaster Alliums are breathtaking bulbs and anything but ordinary! They deserve a special spot in your garden! They add an amazing designer's touch to your landscape and require so little work to maintain. Mixed perennial gardens and any mixed bulb planting will benefit from these curiosities! No cutting garden should be without these unique flower heads and your pollinator gardens will be buzzing!

They add height as a back border or as an accent for architectural interest. Plus Globemaster Allium are an absolute must for Rock gardens, Cottage gardens or gardens where kids are invited to play and learn. Even once dried on the plant, the seed heads have remarkable form and texture among summer flowers and bulbs! Try spray painting them in contrasting colors to add whimsy to your planting beds all season long!

Make a statement by lining the path to your door with Globemaster Alliums, your guests will feel like they entered a fantasy land! Formal in structure and stature, plant evenly distributed clumps in front of a backdrop of evergreens or in rows along your paths and walkways. Globemaster Allium blossoms will bob and sway in the breeze! For an eye-catching display, plant large drifts of en masse Globemaster Allium that will become the talk of the neighborhood!

Create incredible container gardens with these vertical thrillers, even a window box or planter will become fanciful with these additions! Any sunny patio planter, balcony or terrace garden becomes something magical!

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Globemaster Allium are wonderful members of the Onion family but don't worry, they don't smell like Onions unless you crush their foliage. But please don't try to eat them! However, like Onions, they do return year after year. For best performance, provide the Globemaster with full sun for the strongest stems, best color, and vigorous growth. Also, provide Globemaster Allium with quick-draining soil that doesn't create puddles after rain. Sitting in water will rot these bulbs. Sandy soils or gravel, rocky soil are no problem as Allium are not particular about soil type, it just must be well-drained soil.

Cold hardy in zones 5 through 9, these spring flowering perennial bulbs can remain in the soil year-round. Let the foliage stay intact as long as it remains green, this way it continues making food for next year's flower! Once the green foliage turns yellow and brown it can be removed and cleaned up for the summer.

  • Full Sun Bulb!
  • Moderate to Low Moisture Needs Once Established
  • Any Type of Well-Drained Soil
  • One of the Largest Flowering (Non-Edible) Onions
  • Easy Care & Low Maintenance
  • Deer Resistant Perennial Plants

Show off your global taste with the biggest, boldest, most breathtaking Globemaster Allium. Order yours from Nature Hills Nursery now! We will ship your fall planting bulbs based on the correct planting time for your area.
