This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.
Standard Shipping Rates

Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements

Create excitement with the grand motion of Ornamental Grasses. Nature Hills is pleased to offer so many popular and rare varieties online.
Grasses catch the wind, and add motion and sound. Perhaps we're partial, but we think every yard needs a bold focal point like Giant Feather Grass (Stipa gigantea).
If you're going to go with grasses, go big. The Giant Feather Grass certainly fits the bill.
An outstanding crown of narrow foliage arches up, out and down to form a fluid, yet strong, base. Rely on it to improve the look of your landscaping, while making a big statement.
Leverage the billowing foliage as an effective screening and structure plant. The strappy blades start out green, and develop a mellow tone that absolutely glows in the setting sun.
Give it plenty of room to spread out to its full width. You'll appreciate these elegant players in your landscape.
Starting in early summer, you'll track the progress of the developing flower heads. The silvery-purple panicles are held high aloft the crown on swaying stalks.
Up to 10 inches long, they'll eventually reach many feet up and above the foliage. Once mature, the oat-like plumes will age to a wheat color.
Cut a few of the flower spikes for a pretty dried indoor display in a tall vase placed on your hearth. Or leave them standing for welcome winter interest.
These easy-care plants tolerate drought, once their roots are established. With one annual haircut a year, you can sit back and enjoy the sights and sounds of these giant grasses.

How to Use Giant Feather Grass in the Landscape
Add them along your drive for an eye-catching way to define your property. Plant several as a showy hedge along your fence line.
For a solid screen, plant three feet apart on center. Measure from the center of one to the center of the next.
Try one as a specimen plant in an island garden bed in the lawn. You'll create a very easy-care focal point for your property.
Love this idea? Expand on it by adding several of them in a loose grouping from three to five feet apart. Create a natural-looking raised berm and include Adam's Needle Yucca and Coneflower, Gaillardia, Black-Eyed Susan and Baptisia.
These rustic landscape choices support the food needs of critical beneficial pollinators and local songbirds. Use this idea to screen out your annual veggie patch or utilitarian Victory Garden.
Plant them on the west side of your entertainment area. Your guests will appreciate their shade, and their striking beauty as the sun sets.
You can even add visual interest to long-standing windbreaks. They'll offer much-needed visual respite when planted on the sunny side of mature evergreen trees.
Why not tuck in Lilacs and Red-Twigged Dogwood shrubs, and a meandering row of flowering trees at the same time? Entice birds with Chickasaw Plum and honey bees with Linden and Sourwood trees.
#ProPlantTips for Care
Plant these astounding grasses in full sun. They need at least six hours of direct sunlight a day.
They will not tolerate wet soil in wintertime. Supply well-drained soil, or plant in raised beds, huge containers or berms.
Water carefully the first season. After that, cool-season Giant Feather Grass grown in the ground is quite drought tolerant.
However, container-grown plants will always require supplemental water. Apply a three-inch layer of mulch to cut down on surface evaporation.
These plants can remain evergreen in warm climates. In all areas, cut foliage to the ground each spring just before it starts to grow. Use a utility saw, jab saw or hacksaw to make it easy.
Maximize the appeal of your landscape. Giant Feather Grass makes it easy. Order yours today.
