Loving the full sun, and a touch of part shade, Gardenia do best where they are protected from the cold, drying winter winds. Preferring the morning sun and a touch of shade in the hottest southern sun, however, shrugs off the high humidity of the south with ease! Water well while they're establishing, and plant in organically rich, well-draining soils. Mulch the base of your plant to keep the roots stress-free and keep the foliage cleaner and problem-free. Prune after the flowers fade in the summer.
