  • Beautiful Red-Orange Fruit
  • Seedless & Easy to Peel
  • Rind is Rich in Limonene Orange Oil - Great for Zesting & Aromatherapy

The natural dwarf, Fukamoto Orange (Citrus sinensis 'Fukamoto') produces plenty of sweet-tasting, showy fruit. The attractive, red-orange harvest is ready nearly a month before Washington Navel. If you relish the sweet taste of juicy oranges, add one or more of these gorgeous trees to your home landscape! Grow them in the ground in Zones 9 - 11, or keep them in containers.

Fukamoto is a great choice for smaller urban gardens and container culture! Whether you use grow bags or pots, Fukamoto is an exciting early-bearing variety for the home garden. Grab your breakfast from your tree on the balcony. Squeeze the juice, or stick one in your lunchbox.

An extremely aromatic rind and thin pith make Fukamoto an easy-to-eat fruit that is enjoyable to peel. Fukamoto Oranges are juicy, sweet, and seedless. Savor the naturally high fruit sugar content and be content with your healthy choice. Kids won't even know they are packed with Vitamin C, and A, calcium, and fiber! They are easily separated into segments for a satisfying snack experience for the weight-conscious.

Another benefit is that Fukamoto Oranges have a peel that is rich in oil. Zest the peel for baking; or extract the natural oil for homemade beauty supplies, aromatherapy essential oils, and even non-toxic furniture polish.

Whether planted in the ground or grown in a container, a Fukamoto Orange tree becomes an important asset. Even the luscious scent of the white blooms delivers great value.

Go ahead and boost your food security by adding these desirable plants to your Edible Landscape this year, but hurry. We'll run out quickly. Place your order for Fukamoto Orange today.

How to Use Fukamoto Orange in the Landscape

These beautiful broad-leaved evergreen plants feature a shaggy, lush texture with glossy green evergreen leaves. Use them as an enchanting privacy screen planted where you want to block unsightly views or nosy neighbors. Or, let them grow to their full height and width. Create a solid hedgerow along your fence line by placing them eight feet apart on center. Measure from the center of one to the center of the next.

Keep them as small as you'd like with pruning. Container-grown plants will hold themselves smaller naturally.

During the long season of bloom, the bright white flowers emit a fabulously fresh, floral-citrus aroma. Let their scent decorate your backyard get-togethers with a wonderful added dimension of interest.

If you've never grown fruit before, you may be surprised how exciting it is to watch your harvest develop from flower to finished fruit! Take photos of your latest crop and share them on your lifestyle blog!

#ProPlantTips for Care

These sun-loving Citrus trees need at least six hours of direct sunlight a day. Plant them in well-drained soil that sheds water quickly and is slightly on the acidic side. They like to have a three-inch layer of mulch over the root system, like pine straw that helps maintain their acidic environment. Spread the layer out three feet past the canopy and pull it away from the trunk. Ensure they receive a moderate amount of water on a regular basis, but allow them to dry out between waterings. Baby your container-grown plants with a regular amount of water during fruit development.

If you live in a cold winter area, move the containers into a cool, well-lit area indoors to protect them from freezing temperatures. Keep container-grown plants on the dry side in winter and ensure your pots have plenty of drainage holes, elevating them off the ground helps improve drainage too. You'll want to move them back inside and out gradually so as not to stress your tree.

Prune in late winter to correct shape and reduce size, if desired. Open the interior of the canopy up to sunlight and good air circulation.

Apply organic Citrus fertilizer during the growing season, following directions.

Although Citrus can grow year-round in warmer regions (zones 9 and 10), they can also thrive in colder areas (zones 4 to 7) as long as the tree is brought indoors before the first frost of winter.

In zone 8, you can cover your tree in the event of a cold snap or unexpected overnight freeze. Citrus will need to be planted in a sheltered spot to avoid the worst of the chill, and not planted in a low area that collects cold air. If a spot like that is unavailable, or you are in a chill-prone climate, then you are safer planting Citrus Trees in a large, deep container with wheels to easily move them to a protected location or indoors when needed.
