This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

Growing Zones 5-9
Order a water feature workhorse! Every year, more homeowners plan and build water features such as cascading waterfalls and fountains as very special focal points in their landscapes. And why not? They are soothing, and beautiful and add an unmatched element of motion and sound.
But here is the thing...they can't stand by themselves. Water features have to be anchored into the garden with water-loving plants to help them appear natural and nestle into their surroundings!
If you are lucky enough to have a water feature in your yard or are planning a water feature for your yard - or even if you just want something to resemble water flowing in your yard, have we got a plant for you?
The Fox Red Curly Sedge (Carex buchananii) is a cute little Sedge that is a striking evergreen clump of bronze-red foliage that fades ombre-style to a flaxen color at the tips. This effect is pretty all the time, but when it is backlit by the rising or setting sun it is breathtaking!
Loving moisture but handling drier sites as well, these heat and humidity-tolerant Ornamental Grasses grow up to 2 - 3 feet tall and wide! Evergreen in warmer climates and frost-free winters throughout USDA planting zones 5 to 9, this perennial Sedge features a showy tan hue for the winter months.
Landscape Application:
This is a versatile Sedge Grass that thrives in damp areas around pools, ponds, and fountains. It is a perfect choice for those poorly drained pockets so often found in dry stream beds or around large landscape boulders! It brightens up low points in the landscape and tidies up the base of a fountain or a Rain Garden. It is one of the only plants that will thrive in those over-splash areas from waterfall features, too!
In the garden, Fox Red is a great edging plant and looks lacy along pathways and the edge of your driveway as a finishing touch. Even container edges and mixed planters gain showy spillers and fillers!
Spreading and forming colonies, Fox Red Curly Sedge creates colorful mass plantings with ease, slowing rainwater runoff, filling large bare areas in color, and shoring up eroding banks on slopes and the sides of water features.

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Fox Red does best in full sun in cooler climates, but partial sun/partial shade in warmer zones. Plant in any kind of well-drained soil that has moderate to higher regular moisture access. In spring before you see new growth, mow or trim back plants. Divide clumps every few years to keep their growth in check and replant divisions to fill in bare spots or spread the beauty of this Curly Sedge elsewhere in your landscape!
- Full Sun & Part Sun/Shade
- Well-Drained Soil
- Moderate To High Moisture Locations
- Prune/Mow Early Spring
