Introducing the Flowerfesta® Purple Dwarf Lilac (Syringa meyeri 'Anny200809') just about as packed with flower power as a single plant can get! With its sweet Lilac fragrance and compact size that'll fit just about anywhere in a garden, grabbing one or two of these for your garden is a no-brainer! These are unusual Lilacs though - they bloom in early to mid-summer and then rebloom again closer to fall!
Just like its sister plants in the Flowerfesta® series, this specimen is a dwarf plant, However, it doesn't sacrifice blossom size one bit! You'll still have the traditional purple Lilac florets that come together to make beautiful panicles almost the size of regular Lilacs!
It's lovely in sight, smell, and size - making this plant attractive to those with gardens of all shapes and sizes! Even those without gardens at all! You'll have the added bonus of getting to admire the light purple flowers contrasting with the bright green foliage, an enticing sight indeed! Flowerfesta® not only has those gorgeous blooms that appear later in the growing season but again in fall for double your garden celebration!
When you buy this phenomenal selection, you're also guaranteeing you'll have a Lilac for years to come. If you worry about the kinds of plants you buy because you live in a rather cold region or somewhere often plagued by drought, then this is the perfect shrub for you. This flowering ornamental shrub can withstand temperatures as low as -18°F in USDA growing zones 3 through 7 and is extremely drought tolerant once established. Now that's a hardy plant!
Planting and Application:
Adding a Flowerfesta® means it will fit in large gardens as a flowering hedge, a mixed border plant, or a lovely accent! For smaller gardens use as focal points or patio containers is easy! Plus it ensures you'll have a lovely garden full of blossoms and fragrance longer than your typical Lilac provides.
Place a Flowerfesta® Purple Dwarf Lilac on your patio so you can enjoy its stunningly sweet fragrance all season long. Adding this Dwarf Lilac to your garden or patio ensures you'll have a lovely spring full of blossoms and fragrance!
Add double the color to mixed shrub borders as facer plants to hide the leggy stems of older plants, beef up the color and density of windbreaks, and add some long-lasting drama to your home's foundation planting!
Of course, we just have to mention pollinators! Butterflies and hummingbirds flock to this plant for a late spring snack! Then watch them return in the fall for seconds! Sit back, relax, and enjoy the flutter a Flowerfesta® Purple Dwarf Lilac brings to your patios.

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Plant this shrub in well-drained soil and somewhere it can soak up the sun all day long, but Purple Dwarf also tolerates afternoon shade and partial sun in warmer climates. As long as the Dwarf Lilac stays watered during the first season, it'll be just fine receiving minimal watering in the future.
Easy-care Lilacs are not particular on soil type, any rich well-drained soil is best, preferring slightly alkaline soils. Enrich with compost and add organic, slow-release blooming shrub fertilizer in spring and avoid high-nitrogen or lawn fertilizers entirely. Be sure the Lilac does not sit in water, nor dry out for too long to protect your investment, but this Lilac is drought tolerant once established!
A generous layer of mulch helps retain soil moisture as well as insulate the root system from heat and chill. Water well through the crucial establishment period and during extended drought. Be sure to not cluster Lilac too tightly among other large trees or shrubs.
If you live with deer in your area, apply repellent spray on planting day. Deer are hungry and curious, and you want to train them to leave your plants alone. Reapply according to the label.
While Purple Dwarf Lilacs rarely need much in the way of pruning, don't miss a single bloom with these easy Pruning steps for the best flowering. It is important not to prune Lilacs until after they have finished blooming, because if you wait too long and you may remove next year's flowers! Every few years, Lilac benefits from a renewal pruning too!
- Full Sun & Partial Shade
- Well-Drained Enriched Soil
- Moderate Moisture & Mulched Beds
- Long-Lived & Low Maintenance
- Rarely Bothered by Deer
- Cold & Drought Tolerant
You should never have to compromise what you grow due to how much and what type of space you have. If you want a lilac with a compact enough growing habit to fit on your patio or to create a beautiful small flowering hedge in your landscape, then order a Flowerfesta® Purple Dwarf Lilac today!
