Plant Sentry™
Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.
This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.
Standard Shipping Rates
At Nature Hills we handle, package and ship the products you order with the utmost care to ensure healthy delivery. Shipping and handling charges are calculated based on the tables below. Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes

Growing Zones 6-9
Red, red, and more red! Of all the exciting innovations in the latest plant varieties, the Flirt™ Nandina PP#21391 (Nandina domestica 'Murasaki') from Southern Living® Plants makes our hearts pound just a little faster! Flirt™ Nandina, also known as Heavenly Bamboo and Sacred Bamboo, takes the cake when it comes to color and compact, versatile size!
You know that red-hot feeling you get when you feel the spark of flirting? Whether it be your spouse of thirty years or a new fling, the Flirt™ Nandina embodies that excitement and inner glow!
Its new growth leaves burn a bright Moscato red to a deep red violet. Making the show even more inspiring is the fact that the existing broadleaf evergreen foliage is a deep bluish-green with hints of red-purple. Because of the intensity of the new growth's red, this Nandina offers some of the highest contrast you can find. Each new leaf jumps out against the existing foliage, magnifying the form of each individual new leaf!
The red stems show off against the foliage and highlight the butterfly-friendly white flowers and later emerging wine-colored fall leaves and red berries!
This dwarf Nandina rarely reaches above two feet tall and about the same in width. Unlike other Nandina, this compact variety will not go haywire and take over your entire garden! Hardy throughout USDA planting zones 6 to 9 where it is heat and humidity-resistant and easy to grow!
Planting and Application:
Use your Flirt™ Nandina to add drama to your container garden to add space-saving low-growing color into mixed planters. Add this flirty Dwarf Heavenly Bamboo to add their colorful year-round waves of red blush to porches, patios, and around the back deck without taking up much space!
A mass planting of Flirt™ Nandinas makes a marvelous landscape feature, providing low-maintenance color and water-wise drifts of year-round beauty! Nandina is perfect for creating large stretching swaths for Firewise defensive plans!
Use a row as a fantastic foundation planting or to spice up a weary conifer hedge! Tuck into the front of your mixed shrub borders! The smaller size and space-saving bundle of vivid color is perfect to use as edging along your landscape beds and in Rock Gardens.
Urban environment and pollution-tolerant, Nandina is perfect for city properties and small lots, postage-stamp courtyards, and even apartment dwellers' balcony gardens!
- Red-Wine New Growth & Green Foliage Tinted Red With Red Stems

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Plant your Flirt™ Nandina in full sun to partial shade and water carefully until it's fully established. Any well-drained soil location is perfect for Nandina, and they become water-wise once established. Add 3-4 inches of arborist mulch over the root system to keep it cool and hold moisture in more consistently.
Rarely requiring pruning because of their neat and tidy natural form, if you do wish to trim these shrubs, do so after flowering. This striking plant is pest and disease-resistant and works well wherever you need a burst of color.
Unfortunately, Nandina pops up where it should not in some areas, because birds eat the berries and spread them far and wide. Enter your Zip Code in the Plant Highlights section to find your Hardiness Zone on this page and you'll see if Nature Hills can ship Nandina safely into your area.
Nature Hills Nursery is at the forefront of environmental regulatory compliance with all agricultural laws. We use Plant Sentry™, an online tool that blocks shipments of plants that can behave invasively in your locale.
