Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

The cold-hardy Flemish Beauty European Pear Tree (Pyrus x 'Flemish Beauty') produces rich, delicious, red-blushed fruit for fresh eating and drying to enjoy in wintertime. One bite of super-fresh, homegrown buttery pears that melt in your mouth, will make you a life-long fan of this heirloom variety!

Starting off in a cloud of fragrant white blossoms, the Flemish Beauty European Pear trees ripen in the late mid-season. They are precocious and begin bearing at a young age. Letting you not wait as long before your first harvest! They are a perfect snacking size for your lunchbox. The creamy flesh looks beautiful grilled for a moment or two and sliced on a dessert plate with a light drizzle of local honey.

You'll see fruit with a single, self-pollinating Flemish Beauty, but the crops increase dramatically with a pollination partner. Plus you'll extend your harvest and broaden your pear flavors when planted with a Bartlett or even an Asian Pear!

Planting and Application:

Pear trees are pretty enough for front yard planting. Turn your sunny foundation planting beds into an Edible Garden and share some of your delicious bounty with neighbors! Try them in a hard-working hedgerow with other Pear trees spaced about six feet apart for privacy and food-producing flowering hedge and juicy property division!

Flemish Beauty pears are rounded and medium-large, with a very smooth texture and sweet taste. They've been a favorite in the United States for well over a century and are ideal additions to your backyard orchards or just a single specimen that will have the neighborhood drooling!

  • Big Green Bell-Shaped Fruit Blushed Bright Red
  • Buttery Sweet & Melt-In-Your-Mouth
  • White Fragrant Blooms
  • Heirloom Self-Fertile
  • Late Mid-Season Harvest

#ProPlantTips for Care:

This spur-bearing Pear needs full sun with at least six hours of direct sunlight a day. Ensure the soil is well-drained. Give Pear trees great air circulation for best results. In cold winters, plant them on north-facing slopes to delay the bloom until the spring weather grows more reliable. Keep Flemish Beauty Pear trees smaller with summer pruning for size control.

  • Full Sun
  • Well-Drained Enriched Soil
  • Moderate Yet Consistent Moisture
  • ~800 Chill Hours
