Honestly, it's like picking a winning diamond from a field of diamonds. You can't go wrong with any Pluot, but you will be very happy with the Supreme!
Its gorgeous fruit, with smooth, dragon's green skin and firm, juicy wine-red flesh marries the best of both Plums and Apricots and this variety brings out the sweetest taste imaginable! Combine that with gorgeous white blossoms and fragrance, and you have an incredible landscaping ornamental tree!
These are magnificent pollinator-friendly trees and you'll adore the butterflies and fragrance! Plant one close to a window where you'll see the early spring blossoms! Flavor Supreme needs a pollinator, so order two, or you can plant it with Toka Plum, Beauty Plum, Shiro Plum, Santa Rosa Plum, and Burgundy Plums.

Featuring a classic shape and Plum-like leaves. It paints a pretty dual-purpose flowering landscaping ornamental tree with a bonus - you'll have plenty of nutritious fruit to eat and share with your lucky friends and neighbors! Try it in salsa! Just replace the tomatoes with Pluots for an out-of-this-world taste. Grill it after brushing it with a simple honey glaze. Rich, Sweet Flavor Supreme Pluot
Truly the powerhouse of early fruits, The Flavor Supreme Pluot has become the standard of quality that all early fruits are compared to. One of the earliest of all the Plum x Apricots from world famous Floyd Zaiger, the Flavor Supreme Pluot, is an example of the finest creations from Zaiger Hybrids.
The simple Plum x Apricots (Plumcots) first revealed by Luther Burbank in his 1901 catalog titled, "New Creations in Fruits and Flowers", were a testimony to the possibilities of this wonderful cross. But even then, he was not ready to release what he had, only to tell us they were coming. A Burbank quote from his brief reference in the catalog is, "Plumcots are as distinct as if a new fruit had been handed down from another planet."
Though an amazing accomplishment, the Burbank Plum x Cots, released later in the early 1900s, were never as outstanding as he had hoped. The Flavor Supreme released in 1988 is just what Burbank had envisioned. Incredibly sweet, with a rich unique Plum flavor; surely influenced by the Apricot parent.
Using a bridge variety, a 50% x 50% Apricot Plum cross, Zaiger backcrossed to a little-known red fleshed Plum variety call the Mariposa, also known as the Improved Satsuma Plum. The result was the original 3 Pluot introductions, Flavor Queen, Flavor King and Flavor Supreme.
Zaiger had achieved success on the work that Luther had begun. Zaiger began as an assistant to Fred Anderson, the Father of the modern Nectarine, who in turn was once an assistant to Luther Burbank. Zaiger honed his skills as a master hybridist on the backs of giants. As if handed down from Luther Burbank to Floyd Zaiger, The Flavor Supreme will last as a testimony to what great vision mixed with dedicated science can achieve.
Flavor Supreme today is one of the bestselling varieties of Pluot's. Though a little more demanding than other Pluot selections, the Flavor Supreme is best in areas where Apricots are dependable. Having more Apricot like traits, the early bloom-time will cause problems in areas of late frost or early spring heavy rains.
Pollination is required; with Santa Rosa Plum, Burgundy Plum and other Pluot selections being recommend as pollinators.
