Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

#ProPlantTips for Care:
For the best color, plant Ninebark in full sun with at least six hours of direct sunlight a day. They need well-drained soil but can be grown in raised beds to improve the drainage as needed. Give a moderate amount of water on a regular basis. Apply a three-inch layer of mulch over their roots, and pull it back from directly touching the stems. Wait until after the flowers are finished to Prune to shape. This plant blooms on last year's wood, and you won't want to miss a year of these gorgeous flowers. You can perform renewal pruning every three years or so. Simply cut out the oldest, fattest stems to the ground; leaving the younger thinner stems to remain in place.
