To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

Bare Root Plants
Bare root plants are sold by height from the root system to the top of the plant. Plants may exceed minimum height requirements.

- Shrubs & Perennials: 1 foot, 18 inches, 2 feet

Are you just getting into caring for houseplants? Bonsai trees can be tricky and their watering cycle hard to follow. If you're looking for a great beginner plant that can tolerate some mistakes as you learn, the Ficus Ginseng (Ficus microcarpa 'Ginseng') is for you!
Ficus Ginseng has glossy, dark green foliage that people love for its density and tolerance for shaping. The leaves sit atop a wide trunk with its roots exposed at the bottom, adding to its already immense visual interest.
This plant, while generally liking the indoors, is a tropical species and does appreciate being outside during the summer. The only thing to watch out for is changes in temperature. Keep Ficus Ginseng in a climate between 60 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
Try not to let Ficus Ginseng dry out to the roots, but it can definitely tolerate some under and overwatering. This makes it perfect for those who may struggle when it comes to keeping houseplants happy.
Another great way to water this plant is by misting it daily or using a humidity tray. During the winter months, Its moisture requirement is often somewhat reduced.
If you find yourself still floundering, try fertilizing the Ficus Ginseng. It responds extremely well to fertilizer and will produce new growth almost immediately.
There are many different ways to highlight the lovely features. One is to let the exposed roots grow over rock. You can also prune the tree to make it just about any shape and size you want!
Once you've had the Ficus Ginseng for a couple of years, don't be afraid to repot. They actually prefer to be repotted once every two or three years.
