They'll do best in very fertile, humusy, well-drained soil with a 3-4 inch thick layer of mulch over the soil surface. Provide moderate, yet consistent moisture access to prevent splitting. Use the Finger Test to determine when to water. Stick your finger into the soil near the plant up to the 2nd knuckle. Getting dry? Time to water. Still moist? Skip watering and check in a day or two. Prune when dormant to correct shape and control size.
