Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

The Ellias Trap Terrarium is perfect for any small space you may have! It will add the perfect pop of color and class to your dorm or your bookshelf. It also makes an excellent desk decoration. It is one of the many terrariums for sale on our site!

All of these wonderful pieces are made out of reclaimed glass and wood from deconstructed homes in Detroit, MI. They are based on the 19th century Wardian Cases. These were used to transport exotic plants across the world. They create the ideal environment to grow your own miniature garden, and these have a nice updated design.

Every one of these terrariums is as unique as the glass that it is made from. You can have peace of mind knowing that the resources to make these terrariums are sustainably sourced from deconstructed homes. The Ellias Trap Terrarium is a great example of recycling and reusing our locally sourced materials. With these, we can produce fine products that are made in America.

Terrarium planters can be used for so many different kinds of terrarium plants! A popular choice for those that have glass terrariums is air plants. Together, they make a beautiful pop of class and color to any space.

Closed terrariums can be used for other plants as well! They also have the added benefit of needing very little potting soil.

Some people like to make homemade designs like this with mason jars. However, they just aren't as good of quality as these amazing terrariums. When you buy the Ellias Trap Terrarium, you will be doing more than providing a beautiful home for your plants. You will also be supporting an eco-friendly business!

Without being sustainable and reusable, we won't be able to keep all the beautiful plants that we know and love.

5 Step Planting Guide

What You Need

Once you have your terrarium, there are a couple of things that you will need. Before you can start planting, you will need clay pebbles/pea gravel, activated charcoal, potting soil, and of course, your plant! Some optional items would include a coffee filter, moss, and/or sand.

Step One: Add Pebbles for Drainage

Place a 1-inch high layer of pea gravel or red clay pebbles (Hydrotron) at the terrarium liner's bottom. Hydroton pebbles retain moisture and release it back to your plants' roots as needed for healthy drainage.

Step Two: Add a Layer of Charcoal

Add a 1/4 inch layer of activated charcoal pieces on top of your pebbles.

Charcoal can be purchased at garden supply stores or aquarium supply stores. It is used to keep the soil purified and help with filtration. Another thing you could do is add a coffee filter, moss, or sand. This will help prevent soil from filtering down into the pebbles.

Step Three: Add Potting Soil

Add 2 to 3 inches of potting soil on top of the charcoal. We recommend using a good organic potting soil. For planting succulents, use potting soil for cacti and succulents. This soil gives your plants increased drainage.

Step Four: Planting and Decorating

Remove the plant from its plastic container, tease the roots gently apart and remove any excess moisture. Dig a small hole in the potting soil and place the root ball inside. Add soil around the base of the plant and gently pat it down.

Depending on the size of your terrarium, you may be able to add multiple plants. Consider adding decorative sand, moss, or objects to your taste.

Step Five: Cover and Place

Place your terrarium top onto the base and place it in a sunny spot in your home.

Enjoy the look of your space with this beautiful Ellias Trap Terrarium added to it. Also, you can enjoy the story that comes with it! Make sure you add one of these beauties to your cart and buy a terrarium for yourself today!
