Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Dutch Iris Mammoth Mix (assorted Iris x hollindica) is a randomized mix of elegant blooms with an unmatched presence in any garden! Bright and airy, the Dutch Iris resembles that of an orchid or fleur de lis. Exquisite silky petals come in a range of colors and color combinations. Each bulb produces a single flower that rests atop sturdy stems and is framed by striking clumps of sword-like leaves.

This Mammoth Iris mixture consists of a random selection of Dutch Iris varieties, colors, and solid/bi-colors to produce a unique blend. Purchase several packs of bulbs to enjoy a multitude of blues, purples, white, yellows, and more!

The Mammoth Dutch Iris have larger bulbs and larger flower heads than usual Dutch Iris. Growing outdoors year-round as perennial bulbs in USDA plant hardiness zones 6 to 8, these Irus bulbs can grow 18-24 inches tall when in bloom! Growers in all planting zones can enjoy these as indoor forced accents or as fast-growing annuals in their seasonal containers.

Planting and Application:

This Mammoth Mix and its range of colorful varieties will light up the middle of your garden beds and borders! Mix with other Dutch Iris or mid to late-spring ephemeral bulbs for a grand display that embodies spring! Try mixing Mammoth Iris with Daffodils and Tulips and with Hyacinths, Crocus, and other spring bulbs in a mixed bulb garden!

These ephemerals appreciate having protection from the summer sun, so plant them among larger perennials and shrubs that leaf out later in the spring. These bulb plants shine when in bloom, but then happily bask in the shade of their garden neighbors' foliage for the rest of the growing season.

Either indoors or out, pot up your Mammoth Dutch Iris mix for refreshing color and fragrance. Use on porches and in patio containers, balcony window boxes, or mixed pots on your front stoop, bring curb appeal and smiles everywhere they go! Snip a few for elegant floral arrangements indoors too! But leave a few for the early-emerging pollinators to enjoy outdoors.

  • Random Mixture of Mammoth Dutch Iris Varieties & Colors
  • Sweetly Scented & Pollinator-Friendly
  • Vertical Grass-Like Green Foliage
  • Great Cut Flowers & Winter Forced Bulbs
  • Specimen Groupings, Edging & Mid-Garden Rows & Containers

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Plant Dutch Iris in sunny, well-drained soil that won't get soggy, but remains consistently moist. Use a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch chips to help retain moisture and protect their bulbs (unlike other Irises that grow from rhizomes).

Every few years, it is recommended you divide the bulb clumps and clean out any older, non-productive roots to maintain vigor. Mammoth Dutch Iris should be planted in fall outdoors, or forced indoors in pots during the winter or early spring. Deadhead the flowers after they fade, but keep the leaves to make food for the bulb. Prune away the foliage after it yellows to the ground.

  • Full Sun & Partial Shade
  • Fast Growing in Fertile Well-Drained Soil
  • Appreciates Mulched Beds & Regular Moisture
  • Deadhead & Prune After Foliage Yellows
  • Deer & Juglone Resistant

Bring on a mixture of color and elegance with the Dutch Iris Mammoth Mix for yourself or a loved one today!
