Wall-to-wall carpets of bubble-gum pink! Gorgeous deep-pink flowers and finely-textured dark-green foliage, Drummond Pink Creeping Phlox (Phlox subulata 'Drummond's Pink') is a spring-blooming butterfly magnet with semi-evergreen foliage.

The needle-like foliage forms dense low-growing mats that become smothered in hundreds of little pinwheels of incredible pink color! Pollinators and even hummingbirds flock to these nectar-rich blossoms!

Drought-tolerant and deer-resistant throughout USDA growing zones 3 to 9, these are the largest flowers for a perennial Creeping Phlox! Spreading into low-growing polite carpets of brilliant pink 4-6 inches tall and 18-24 inches wide.

Planting and Application:

Creeping Phlox are fantastic edging plants and border groundcover! You'll enjoy carpets of early spring pink to add a finishing touch to the sides of pathways and stairs! These tough plants are radiant as front-of-the-border Cottage gardens and Rock gardens as facer and filler plants. Glam up your beds as living mulch that meanders among larger perennials or shrubs, filling the area in cheery color.

Allow to spill over retaining walls and your borders and underplant larger shrubs for semi-evergreen cover and greenery. Lovely amid garden perennials and spilling over large planters! Plant in large or small containers and pottery where the Drummond Pink Moss Phlox acts as a brilliant filler and spiller as well!

Drummond Pink is a lovely cover for spring bulbs without worrying about root competition. Mass plantings on banks, slopes, and erosion control are great uses of Creeping Phlox! Phlox plants are drought-tolerant, therefore suitable for Xeriscaping and are recommended for Fire-Wise landscaping!

  • Brilliant Pink Blossoms
  • Low-Growing Mats of Fine-Textured Green Leaves
  • Spring Nectar Resource For Pollinators
  • Can Remain Evergreen In Mild Winters
  • Groundcover, Spillers in Containers, Edging & En Masse

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Full sun plants, perennial Moss Phlox tolerates some partial shade in warmer zones 3-9. Best in a wide range of soil, Phlox needs well-drained soil, that's dryer and rocky, plus very drought-tolerant once established. Provide new plants with regular moisture, but once established, Phlox is quite drought-tolerant! Top the soil of your plantings with a 3-4-inch layer of mulch to help combat the sun and drought.

Deadhead or shear as soon as the flowers fade to encourage a rebloom. Once the frost kills back the foliage, shear after early spring flowering to deadhead and promote new growth in mid to late spring.

  • Full Sun
  • Low Moisture Needs Once Established
  • Any Well-Drained Soil
  • Shear After Flowers Fade & Prune Late Autumn
  • Deer Seldom Bother Groundcover Phlox

For carpets of bright pink and glowing ornamental ground cover, order Drummond Pink Creeping Phlox from Nature Hills today!

Creeping Phlox Frequently Asked Questions

Does Creeping Phlox spread?

Most Garden Phlox do spread some but politely so - not getting into trouble and not jumping their borders. Should the clumps become too large you can easily divide them.

Should your deadhead Creeping Phlox?

Deadheading Carpet Phlox helps prevent some varieties from self-seeding and encourages a rebloom. Shear or prune immediately after flowering for a rebloom later on.

Where is the best place to plant Phlox?

Phlox needs full sun, and well-drained enriched soil with good air circulation for best results. Mulch their beds and fertilize them each spring.

What happens to Phlox in the winter?

Phlox are herbaceous perennials that will lose their leaves and stems after frost and die back to the ground. In spring, they regrow from their root systems anew! However, Creeping Phlox can remain semi to fully evergreen in mild winters and warm growing zones.
