Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.
This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Bi-color stars, the incredibly unique Destiny's Teacher Dahlia (Dahlia 'Destiny's Teacher') is a dazzlingly different bloom like few others! The single row of long, slender, pointed petals that stand out like open rays around a bright yellow center!
The violet-purple and white streaked, spattered and striped petals are incredible landing pads for butterflies and bees! The long, slender stems hold these aloft and make them ideal for adding interest and texture to cut flower bouquets and floral arrangements!
Flowering from mid-summer til fall, Destiny's Teacher is backed by a mound of lush green foliage, each leaf featuring toothy margins and growing 24 inches tall when in bloom, and spreading to 18-24 inches wide. Hardy year-round in USDA growing zones 9 through 11, Dahlia tubers are great houseplants or annual accents in all growing zones.
Planting and Application:
Dahlia like this ray flower are wonderful as focal points in containers and planters. The mound of foliage is also great filler and greenery in mixed planters. These darling and unique blooms are wonderfully space-saving so that even balcony and patio gardeners can enjoy growing Dahlia! Any sunny seating area planter or sunny front porch can be enhanced by these blooms!
To maximize the effect of these flowers, plant them in groupings or en masse drifts and rows throughout your perennial, Rose, cottage garden beds or borders! Their unique form mingles well with summer and fall-blooming perennials like Asters, Phlox, Rudbeckia, and Coneflowers. This gives your vases and bouquets plenty of blooms for the last half of the growing season.

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Dahlia blooms all summer without fading in full to partial shade and prefers a wide range of soil types, including clay, and acidic conditions, as long as it's well-drained! Soak the tubers for a few hours before planting and plant them with their fingers spread out gently and pointing downwards. To ensure even moisture, adding 3-4 inches of mulch helps considerably. Dahlia tubers can be dug after frost, then place in paper bags or boxes of sand in a cool place and sprinkle a little water on the tubers periodically to keep them from drying out.
- Full Sun & Partial Shade
- Well-Drained Organic Soil
- Easy Care Perennial
- Moderate Consistent Moisture
- Dig Tubers in Cold Zones in Fall After Frost
- Appreciates Monthly Fertilizer
