Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Beautiful and Quirky Plump Stemmed Desert Rose

  • Bright Light
  • Blossoms in Many Stunning Colors
  • Glossy Green Foliage
  • Quirky Shape

This Desert Rose (Adenium obesum) is anything but your average rose. In fact, this beauty isn't a rose at all but that doesn't mean it's not absolutely stunning. Add one to your indoor decor for a little spark of bright color.

Commonly found thriving in the wild around desert like ecosystems, the Desert Rose has adopted a relatively succulent way of life. It will store water in its soft roots allowing it to go long periods without much attention at all.

You don't have to sacrifice beauty for convenience though as this member of the milkweed family is truly striking! With glossy dark green leaves perched on top of a peculiarly thick stem, the Desert Rose will have you conjuring up images of a miniature, stout, tree.

That isn't the most impressive part about this plant though. During late summer, you can look forward to this specimen producing the most mesmerizing flowers. Each petal is soft pink towards the center and gradually deepens into a fuchsia around the edges!

We are showing white in the photo, but the trumpet-shaped flowers that appear in vibrant shades of red, pink, purple and many times bi color as well.

In order to have the happiest Desert Rose possible, try thinking of it as two different plants with two different care requirements. During the spring as summer keep it abundantly watered and fertilized. Then, once winter comes, keep the rose dry so that it can adequately rest, almost like a cactus.

You'll also want to make sure this little looker basks in bright light all day long. It would look absolutely marvelous in a living room window or perched next to your sliding glass door!

Like most houseplants, a Desert Rose will thrive in a container as long as it is well draining. Feel free to set the rose outside during the summer months but make sure to bring in once the weather starts cooling off. When your Desert Rose is spending its days outside, you won't have to worry about curious critters, this specimen is dear and rabbit resistant!

Few things are as rewarding as caring for a houseplant. These ask for very little and give so much back in return!

Desert Roses are the kind of house plant that gets noticed by visitors right away. Order one for your living room today and you'll start receiving compliments very soon!
