Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

The first dwarf, barely-there blush-pink flowering Delphinium works its charm into any sized yard and garden, or even container plantings!

Unlike its taller cousins, Delphinium Summer Mornings forms compact mounds that are perfect for borders or in mixed containers. The dense clumps of deep green foliage display an equally fine textured mound of deeply incised and lobed foliage to further highlight the blushing pink single florets. Romantic, light pink flowers adorn the bushy foliage from early summer through fall.

Very cold-hardy throughout USDA growing zones 3 through 7, Delphiniums are also wonderfully deer, rabbit, and pest-free perennials. Growing to a space-saving mound 10-12 inches in height and width when in bloom, these are perfect for tucking into even the smallest garden plots with ease!

Planting and Application:

Dwarf Delphinium adds light and airy texture and elegant frilly wants to your garden beds and borders! The delicate fine texture and barely-there hue bring romantic beauty to Cottage borders and cutting gardens. Not just in the landscape but also in bouquets! For the best visual impact, plant them in groups or in undulating rows as lacy accents throughout the landscape!

Lighten the mood of a garden bed or border with the darling Summer Mornings! Any garden becomes a butterfly garden with one or more of these vertical interest perennials! These blend beautifully among others in the Perennial garden and add lacy filler to Rose gardens!

Perfect gifts to welcome a new baby or add delight to a Children's Garden, these dainty fairy-like blooms are sure to be everyone's favorite! Dwarf Delphiniums are equally suitable in large planters and porch pots in the sun as vertical focal points and filler plants. So mix among your annuals and spiller-style groundcovers of all colors for a porch pot that catches the eye!

  • Light & Airy Barely-Pink Florets
  • Dwarf Sized Clumps of Lacy Deep-Green Leaves
  • Small, Space-Saving Butterfly & Hummingbird Magnets
  • Blooms All Summer & Reblooms
  • Airy Filler & Blushing Color in Containers, Garden Beds & Borders!

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Delphiniums grow best in full sun and afternoon shade, in locations with enriched, well-drained soil with a basic pH. If your soil is naturally acidic, adding lime will help to provide these conditions. Delphinium appreciates a 3-4 inch thick layer of mulch over the roots. Provide regular moisture all summer for best results and to support the huge blooms.

These dwarf-sized stems rarely need any staking when planted in a protected area, so they remain upright no problem! But if you do grow them in windy locations, a firm stake will help support their stems. Deadhead early enough and you’ll enjoy a rebloom until fall, then as the foliage turns yellow, prune back the mound close to the ground and water it in well one last time before the ground freezes.

They are also heavy feeders. The addition of compost or manure to the soil, as well as a granular fertilizer, will result in healthier, stronger plants. It is recommended you wear gloves when handling these plants since some can develop skin sensitivity. Always monitor young pets and young children around Delphinium.

  • Full Sun & Afternoon Shade
  • Well-Drained Enriched Soil
  • Appreciates Mulch & Regular Moisture Access
  • Rabbits & Deer Tend to Leave Them Alone
  • Powdery Mildew Resistance, Heat & Humidity Tolerant
  • Low-Maintenance & Very Cold Hardy

The refreshing Summer Mornings Delphinium is the blushing beauty your landscape needs to lighten the mood every year! Hurry and order your darling dwarf perennials today at NatureHills.com!
