As if glowing from within, the Night Embers Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Night Embers') is an amazing double Daylily with twice the petals! Each broad petal is in a luxurious deep smoldering dark red with a slightly rippled yellow edge like it's about to catch fire! Then this Daylily bloom also features a second set of petals that fill the center in a ruffled, rippled little bunch. Then the throats of this bloom glow in a radiant yellow!

Do you need more? Well Night Embers also has incredible fragrance, multiple buds per sturdy scape, and you get not only its main midsummer flush of flowers, but you'll enjoy rekindling waves of rebloom until frost in some areas! Talk about a spectacular specimen! Your curious neighbors and hungry pollinators will agree!

Growing up to 30 inches tall when in bloom, the long stems and incredible flowers will certainly brighten up a bouquet! This large tetraploid Daylily can be semi-evergreen in warmer climates with mild winters but is also a reliable herbaceous perennial for cooler growing zones. And we're talking much cooler - USA growing zones 2 to 9 cold and heat tolerances!

In fact, Daylilies are well known for their sheer resilience! Deer, rabbits, humidity, sun, clay and poor soil, pests and diseases are like water off a ducks back to them! Daylilies fleshy roots store water making them fantastic in the Xeric garden and they are on many fire-wise defensible space landscape plans!

Planting and Application:

These are spectacular blooms that deserve a prominent location in your front berm, around a mailbox, front and center in a perennial border, or as the focal point in a front porch planter! Night Embers radiates warmth and showy beauty in Cottage borders but is tough enough for Rock Gardens too! Pollinator and Cut Flower gardens are welcome locations for these ruffled flowers!

Mix with gold and yellow blooms, dark purple and burgundy flowers and plants with dark purple or maroon foliage, and highlight them with reds, mauves, and peaches. Tall enough to hold their own as middle-of-the-border blooms, but the foliage mounds up to 36 inches wide are great garden filler, edging, spillers, and facer plants!

Create groupings and rows to show off these gorgeous blossoms while utilizing their clumping grassy foliage in large drifts to maximize their impact. Go big and plant swaths en masse where bare ground along paths and sidewalks, along the road or your driveway, or on an eroding sunny hillside that's difficult to mow need a brilliant and tough solution that can stand up to the harshest of conditions and look good doing it!

  • Ruffled Double Blooms in Deep Auburn Red
  • Glowing Gold Throats & Edges
  • Large-Sized Daylily Forming 3-Foot Tall & Wide Clumps
  • Swishy Sturdy Slender & Arching Green Foliage
  • Pollinator Friendly & Gorgeous Cut Flowers
  • Edging, Specimens & Focal Points, Large Planters & En Masse
  • Firewise Landscaping & Xeric Landscaping Solutions

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Easy to grow Daylilies like Night Embers can survive harsh conditions that many other plants can not and prefers full sun for the best performance. Plant in mulched garden beds with enriched well-drained soil for best results, topped with 3-4 inches of arborist bark chips. Provide new plants with moderate moisture on a regular basis, but once established, Daylilies are drought and occasionally soggy soil adaptable.

Deadhead to encourage rebloom, then trim the entire scape to the crown of the plant once all the buds are spent to clean up the mound. In late autumn after frost, remove all foliage to the ground and dispose of it away from the site to prevent rusts and diseases from overwintering. Divide in the early spring, about every 3-5 years to maintain vigor and flowering size.

  • Tolerant of Full Sun & Afternoon Shade
  • Adaptable in Any Well-Drained Soil
  • Moderate Moisture - Low Once Established
  • Prune Late Fall, Deadhead Regularly & Divide Every 3-5 Years
  • Seldom Bothered By Deer, Rabbits, Salt & Pests

Glowing ruffles and radiant frills, the Night Embers Reblooming Daylily will smolder in your landscape this year! Hurry and order yours today at Nature Hills!
