Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Wild, wiggling branches make Curly Locks Willow (Salix caprea 'Curly Locks') an incredible landscape asset for winter interest. Contorted, red-orange branches sweep downward in a lyrical display...catching the eye of all who see it in the garden.

Held on a standard trunk, you and your guests can truly study and appreciate the unique beauty of these special Willows. You'll especially love them in early springtime, for their fuzzy silver catkins held along the length of each bare branch that open into golden-yellow over time.

Planting and Application:

You won't be the only one to fall in love with the spring blooms...butterflies truly appreciate the early season nectar. These wildlife-friendly plants entice beneficial pollinators, and the local songbirds who are their natural predators.

  • Plant one as a free-form garden sculpture to study forevermore. Tuck it somewhere in your front yard planting or courtyard as a showy accent; or create a Destination Spot at the end of a long path to highlight it's special style.
  • Keep a trio in oversized garden containers for a sophisticated urban balcony, patio or terrace. You'll achieve a fabulous privacy screen, as well as a dynamic feature.
  • Even the summer leaves are curly! Soon after the catkins turn golden-yellow, the foliage emerges to catch the wind with a restful rustle of blissful white noise...perfect for masking discordant sounds of the city.
  • Why not use a paired set of Curly Locks Willow on either side of a garden entrance? They would look incredible "popped" against a Privet, Laurel or Bay hedge, wouldn't they?
  • If you design with flowers, Curly Locks is a must-have in your Cutting Garden. Not only do you have access to those incredible twisting branches, you can include the catkins in spring arrangements, as well!

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Like all Willow, Curly Locks does best with even moisture. After planting, apply a three-inch layer of mulch all around the base to reduce surface evaporation...then pull it back away from directly touching the trunk.

  • Use Nature Hills Root Booster in the planting hole. The symbiotic formula provides a life-long support of the tiny feeder roots without "wearing out".
  • Position your Willow Curly Locks tree carefully in the planting hole; taking the time to study all it's angles. Get expert planting tips from the NatureHills.com Horticulture Team.
  • Wait until the catkins have turned yellow to make any pruning cuts to shape your sculptural focal tree. Reduce the size by taking the longest branches off at the top of the tree...or cut all the branches evenly at the bottom if you want to see an "umbrella" shape.
