Darling jesters crowns of bright coral-pink finery, the Coral Reef Bee Balm (Monarda didyma 'Coral Reef') has these truly unique blooms all summer and draws pollinators galore for you to enjoy! These cold-resistant Canadian cultivars are very mildew resistant. They aren't well-liked by deer, allowing you to enjoy their blossoms longer, without the fuss of other Monarda.
Bee Balm is fragrant blooming perennials with very aromatic foliage! Starting mid to late summer and lasting through autumn, with the flowers reappearing when deadheaded. The fragrant foliage of the native varieties was used in potpourri and tea, so you'll love the herbal fragrance the crushed leaves of this cultivar emit when you brush past the plant. Getting their aromatic nature from their Mint family connections and native forms even have their share of culinary and medical uses.
Coral Reef has unique party-favor-looking blossoms that are bee and butterfly magnets! They thrive in USDA growing zones 4 through 9 and these full sun-loving perennials also do well in partial shade. Faster-growing and scented, they even attract a few hummingbirds to sip from their many slender, trumpet-shaped petals that make up the crown of each blossom.
