To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Seasonally, Nature Hills offers hand selected, high quality bare root trees, shrubs and perennials. Bare root plants are sold by height from the top of the root system to the top of the plant. Plants may be taller than the height minimums.

The German Iris Clarence Tall Bearded Iris (Iris germanica 'Clarence') is cool icy white and frosty blue! Known as "Bearded Iris" due to the fuzzy 'beard' that appears on each of the ruffled lower petals. Clarence is outstanding for its unusual color, design, and sturdy, vigorous growth habit. But Clarence is most recognized for its fall rebloom in fall in many climates.
If you're a fan of glorious blooms, you'll love late spring with your Clarence Tall Bearded Irises. This plant produces numerous dramatic 5-inch blooms that tower above its attractive green foliage on strong stems. With a yard full of these beauties will have you feeling anything but the blues. This delightful and demur Irises will add elegance to your yard. Long blooming in late spring and early summer, they bloom over a 2 - 3 week period!
These flowers perfected the ombre effect! They feature soft blue-violet that fades to a silky white on their standards with falls that are creamy white at the center and transition to a light blue on the ruffled edges. Its creamy beards blend with the white that streaks outward.
Backed by clumps of handsome green sword-like foliage, you will enjoy these vertical elements long after the flowers fade. But until then, enjoy the curious bees, butterflies can't resist their spicy fragrant scent, and occasional hummingbirds that stop by for a visit!
Tall Bearded Iris grow wonderfully throughout USDA planting zones 4 to 9, and can reach up to 3 feet when in bloom, yet keep their slim 1-2 foot wide profile and are great for container gardening culture and small-space gardens! Ideal plants for the new, experienced, and busy gardener alike!
Planting and Application:
This Iris is calming and quiet in the romantic garden, Cottage garden, or mixed perennial border as groupings or long winding rows to maximize this dreamy and unusual color! The bright white and icy blue look fantastic in the Moon Garden and Clarence is ideal for use in cut flower gardens too!
Growing up to 3 feet when in bloom, the vertical foliage acts as green picket fencing along the back or mid-border of the garden. #ProPlantTips for Care:
Clarence enjoys full sun in cooler climates, but afternoon or part sun in warmer growing zones. A well-drained soil location with regular moisture access is important for their first year in the ground, but once established, Bearded Iris are easy to grow and can be drought tolerant and pretty self-sufficient. All plants appreciate a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch over their roots, especially Iris rhizomes that prefer to only be partially in the ground. Iris are deer, rabbit and squirrel-resistant!
Information About Bare Root Iris
Bare root Iris are shipped as nice fresh-cut divisions with two to three fans of green tops. Keep in mind each Iris variety can have slightly different-sized roots.
When planting, make sure 1/3rd of the rhizome is exposed to sunlight with the roots buried underneath. Note, that it's best to cover the rhizome with a thin layer of mulch or leaves to protect them during the coldest months but make sure to uncover in the spring.
