The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Growing Zones 6-9
The long-lived Chinese White Pine Tree (Pinus armandii) has been long celebrated in art and poetry, and its essence has been captured in specialty Bonsai pruning techniques! Growing rounded and lyrically irregular with age, young Chinese White Pines start with conical with a dense arrangement of whorled branches packed full of blue-green needles!
Enormous, rough-textured cones develop as Chinese White Pine trees mature for a very distinctive, almost prehistoric look, along with edible pine nuts. This is the famed Mount Hua tree that survives tough, mountainous terrain and extreme altitudes! Mount Hua was known to serve the "scariest cup of tea" at a treacherous mountain pass in China, so why not let their indomitable strength be an inspiration in your own landscape?
Sometimes called the Armand Pine, these evergreen trees form large pinecones that birds and squirrels pick the seeds from. Esteemed for many centuries for their tenacity in the face of adversity, Chinese White Pine trees scramble for purchase atop thin, rocky soils. Growing throughout USDA growing zones 6 to 9, these White Pine can grow to a massive 50 to 100 feet in height with 25 to 35 feet in width!
Planting and Application:
Plant a single Chinese White Pine as a prominent focal point, or informal grouping on a rocky slope and sunny hillsides. These trees are gorgeous lawn trees and become incredible wildlife and bird-friendly fortresses! Strong against the windswept landscape, allow them to become sculpted over time. Use judicious pruning to create a customized fit.
Plant one in a sheltered spot in a specialty evergreen collection. Mount Hua trees become a visually arresting specimen you'll enjoy studying the huge, heavy cones on your garden stroll. Try one as a gift plant or a very special Housewarming present for your most discerning friends and family members. Add a gorgeous new shovel and a bottle of wine to enjoy after the young tree is well-watered in the ground.
Despite being a grand-sized tree, Bonsai enthusiasts will appreciate starting a new project with these rare specimens! Large or small, Chinese White Pines become a gorgeous addition to Zen-style gardens and add interest to large properties. Large groupings or rows are prominent windbreaks!
Underplant your Chinese White Pine with other broadleaf evergreens like Azaleas and Rhododendrons for a romantic garden moment. The long, thin needles of the Pine are a wonderful contrast to their leafy foliage.

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Plant in a protected site with perfect drainage where it will receive full sun. Clay soils will not be suitable for Chinese White Pines (try Korean Pine if you have that kind of heavy soil type). Plant in full sun with at least six hours of sunlight a day. They need rich, well-drained soil for best results. Include symbiotic Nature Hills Root Booster in the planting hole of your important evergreen landscape trees. Supply supplemental water on a regular basis to keep your tree stress-free.
Mulch over the root zone, then pull it back away from touching the main trunk. Prune to correct broken limbs and candle prune to control size in early spring. Give it plenty of space to achieve the full spread for the best impression in the landscape. All plants appreciate Nature Hills Root Booster and a 3-4 inch layer of arborist bark chips to support their growth.
