The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Do you want to be a leader or a follower? Take the lead and add a Chappell™ Pawpaw Tree (Asimina triloba 'KSU-Chappell') to your cart before they are sold out!
This unique variety is one of the fastest-growing Pawpaw trees was developed by Kentucky State University that will give you fruit that is yellowish-green in color and large in size - not to mention delicious!
The Chappell™ Pawpaw fruit has a mild banana flavor with hints of pineapple and honey sweetness. The flesh is like yellow custard and has floral notes as you spoon it out of the skin. It has fewer seeds than many varieties, great texture and beautifully large fruits, so there is more of the delicious flesh to enjoy!
Your Chappell™ Pawpaw has a bloom that looks more like its tropical relatives than the typical fruit tree. You will get flowers in the spring that are dark red to reddish-purple hanging from the branches and resembling a bell. They don't smell strong, but they do call beetles and other insects.
Unfortunately, they don't do a great job pollinating your tree so you’ll need to hand pollinate or try growing Pawpaw cultivar such as Allegheny® to increase cross-pollination chances and therefore increase fruit production! How to Use Chappell™ Pawpaw Tree In The Landscape
Handsome foliage and great fall color, these are temperate relatives of the tropical Soursop and Custard-Apple trees, but retains the exotic look for North American gardens!
The Chappell™ Pawpaw is one of the fastest-growing varieties which means you will not have to wait as long to enjoy its irresistible fruit. The trees are small, staying under twenty feet and are perfect for edible landscaping.
Dual-purpose ornamentals that also provide you and your family with privacy, curb appeal as well as healthy fruit! What's not to love about this tree?
Plant as a screening hedgerow, a modest-sized windbreak or shelterbelt for the wildlife, or as a wonderful shade tree over your patio and pool! The tropical flowers and foliage will add an exotic flair to any of these settings!
Enjoy the fruit while you enjoy the summer and fall foliage, and remember that these trees produce their own insecticides so you can enjoy looking at them and not spraying them.
#ProPlantTips For Care
Your Chappell™ Pawpaw will do well in the shade but needs full sun for its most prolific crops. If you are using this variety for landscaping, it thrives in partial shade, as well! New trees benefit from some shade, and all love a touch of afternoon shade in the hottest of its 5 through 9 growing zones.
Loving moisture access, these hardy natives can be partially drought-tolerant but do their best when given consistent watering. This variety will do well in most types of soil, but it does best in slightly acidic soil that has plenty of composted plant material.
Growing in most types of soil, Pawpaw prefers well-drained soil, favoring loam that is slightly acidic. Provide ample organic matter and fertility. A generous layer of mulch helps retain soil moisture as well as insulate the root system from heat and chill.
Thin the fruit in summer, and prune this tree when dormant to remove crossing branches, control the size and remove diseased limbs. You'll want to harvest your fruit as soon as it ripens to prevent damage to your limbs from the weight.
Don't worry about diseases or pests because Pawpaws produce natural pesticides that keep them under control.
Lead the way in your neighborhood! Be the first to enjoy these delicious and nutritious rare fruits! Put a Chappell™ Pawpaw Tree in your cart and choose one of our winning pollination partners to go with it. NatureHills.com sells out of these unique trees quickly, so order yours today!
