Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Add an oasis in your landscape with help from these impeccable, wide-bladed perennials. Cool things down with a lavish mass planting of restful, powdery blue-green...or show off their blue blooms in a low border.

Nature Hills works with professional garden designers across the country, and we're thrilled to offer Cassa Blue Flax Lily (Dianella caerulea 'DBB03'). While small and compact in stature, you'll gain plenty of visual interest from this Australian native.

Plant them in containers or in the ground throughout the high-profile areas of your yard. Cassa Blue Flax Lily is well-behaved and incredibly durable with a glaucous coating on its lustrous leaves.

When it's hot outside, you'll definitely appreciate the blue-green foliage. In some climates, the color may remain evergreen all year-long!

Cassa Blue Flax Lily doesn't spread by rhizomes. Instead, it forms pretty clumps that slowly reach the mature spread listed on the Plant Highlights.

Look for the airy panicles of star-shaped blue flowers with yellow stamens in summer. These small violet flower clusters will be held on stems above the foliage...and their nectar will bring butterflies to your space!

Over the season, these blooms turn into pretty, dark blue colored fruit. Sure, these rugged plants are considered "workhorses", but that doesn't make them any less ornamental.

Count on these slow-growing, erect clumps to enliven coastal areas, and hot inland areas. They'll add a marvelously modern architectural style to your plantings.

How to Use Cassa Blue Flax Lily in the Landscape

This is an exceptional choice for borders in front of shrubs. Create a solid row by planting 18 inches apart...stagger a second row behind the first for a faster fill.

Spread out the plant spacing to 40 inches apart if you are interested in an ultra-modern, low-maintenance look. Each plant will grow into an upright accent that reads as an individual.

Place wood mulch between the plants to suppress weeds and keep the roots cool. If you like, explore some of the inorganic mulches like tumbled landscape glass for a vivid look year-round.

Make your landscape your own with your styling choices. Cassa Blue Flax Lily is a perfect canvas to start from to bring your vision to life.

Carve out a sinuous planting bed to define separate outdoor rooms. Line the edges of the bed with Cassa Blue Flax Lily and install a series of Toyon or Dwarf Strawberry Trees as a screen.

This enchanting perennial loves sunshine, but will also grow in partial shade. This tolerance makes it a perfect choice for borders that wend their way through a variety of light conditions.

Even in small space gardens, Cassa Blue Flax Lily will effortlessly elevate the look. Keep several plants in large outdoor pots for many years of beautiful service.

Try a pair of these container gardens on either side of your front door. Dress them up with other "Fillers" and "Spillers" or keep them as a single species planting.

Match the pots to your home's exterior, or make a statement with a vivid fuchsia. You can even pick up the shade of the flowers' yellow stamens for a fun accent.

Leverage all these ideas in residential or commercial properties. You'll grow to count on their high performance and minimal care requirements!

#ProPlantTips for Care

Plant this special perennial in full sun, or tuck them into a partially shaded spot. They do need at least four hours of sunshine a day.

Well-drained soil is important to maintain the overall health of these long-lived plants. Add extra soil to create a planting mound, if you need sharper drainage.

Elevate containers on bricks or clay pot feet. Please ensure containers have large drainage holes, and cover them with window screening to stop loose soil from escaping.

Provide a consistent amount of water the first season for in-ground plants to get their roots established. Nature Hills Root Booster adds life-long support for feeder roots and is highly recommended.

After the first season in the ground, Cassa Blue Flax Lily becomes waterwise. Provide moisture to container-grown plants, and give your Lilies water during extended drought to protect your investment.

Prune after flowering to tidy up, as needed. Clean up any fallen debris from mass plantings with very light raking.

Please order enough Cassa Blue Flax Lily to complete your entire project. Remember, you'll be competing with professional landscape artists for your limited inventory. Order now!
