Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Camassia Quamash, also known as Wild Hyacinth, Swamp Sego, Common Camas, and Small Camas (Camassia leichtlinii) are pretty starry spring flowering blooms that are related to Lilies! These fragrant lavender-blue gems are native wildflowers throughout the western US. Not only a vital nectar source for butterflies and early emerging bees, Camas were even a food source for indigenous Americans.

Threatened in their native range, it's frowned upon to pull these from the wild, so now you can buy them here at Nature Hills and enjoy all the blooms you can think of! Growing from basal clusters of narrow, upright, grass-like green foliage. The racemes of star-shaped blooms are a lovely blue-violet and have matching sepals for a gorgeous display!

Quamash are perennial fall-planted bulbs that are hardy throughout USDA planting zones 3 to 9 and grow to 12-14 inches tall when in bloom. Fast growing and flowering in mid-spring, providing ample nectar and pollen for your pollinators!

Planting and Application:

These ephemeral bulbs are gorgeous little blooms that mix and mingle in wildflower gardens, naturalizing throughout lawns and pollinator gardens, and frolicking along the edges of pathways and garden beds. They will look as pretty in a container garden as they do brightening your indoor flower bouquets!

The upright greenery provides lovely edging and fringe long after the flowers fade. Lovely wildflowers that flower in the spring, these perennials mix with Squills, Jonquils, Michael's Flowers, and other naturalizing bulbs.

Perfect for early spring color among larger perennials and mixed shrub gardens, Cottage borders, and Rock gardens! Shining as the specimens in the early weeks of the growing season, then gratefully basking in the shade of their larger companions' later-emerging leaves.

  • Pretty Star-Shaped Purple-Blue Blooms
  • Upright Green Foliage Clumps
  • Fragrant Native Wildflower Bulbs
  • Great For Pollinators & Cut Flowers
  • Edging, Containers, Rock Gardens & Naturalizing In Lawns

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Camassia bulbs need full sun or partial sun to flower their best. Provide a moist but very well-drained location because soggy sites will rot the bulbs. Plant as deep as about three times the length of the bulb in fertile soil and water in well. Maintain consistent soil moisture and a 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch over the soil surface.

Deadhead unless you wish the flowers to self-seed and spread the joy. Keep the foliage intact to make food for the bulb, but once it yellows is a great time to prune away the leaves.

  • Full Sun For Strongest Stems & Growth
  • Moderately Moist Well-Drained Soil
  • Deadhead After Bloom
  • Prune to Ground When Leaves Yellow
  • Cold & Heat Tolerant

Add some native beauty to your garden this year with the Camassia Quamash at NatureHills.com! Once you place your order, we'll ship your quality bulbs to your doorstep at the proper planting time for your growing season!
