Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Boxwood Care & Maintenance

Plant Boxwood with Nature Hills Root Booster for lifelong symbiotic root system support.

  • Sunlight Requirements: Prefers partial shade to full sun. Provide some afternoon shade in warmer climates to prevent leaf scorch.
  • Soil Preferences: Boxwood thrives in moist, well-drained soil.
  • Watering Needs: Regular watering is essential during the first growing season. Once established, it is relatively drought-tolerant.
  • Winter Protection: Water evergreens in the fall to help prevent windburn, and spray with wilt-stop according to package directions.
  • Pruning Tips: Prune lightly in late spring or early summer to maintain its shape and encourage healthy growth.
  • Mulching: Apply a 3-4 inch layer of mulch around the base to retain soil moisture and regulate temperature.
