Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.
Standard Shipping Rates
At Nature Hills we handle, package and ship the products you order with the utmost care to ensure healthy delivery. Shipping and handling charges are calculated based on the tables below. Growing Zones 6-9
A sure bet in your landscape, Bloomables® Double Down® Bigleaf Hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla 'Hydrsrpdow') is a fantastic reblooming mophead, but its flowers are truly unique! Fully double, richly-hued pink, purple or blue flowers develop in late spring and open in summer. Persist through early fall, the dried flower heads even extend into winter as dried decoration!
Double Down® maintains a compact, well-behaved habit, making it perfect for small gardens and containers. The aptly named big leaves are broad green and quilted for handsome texture among other shrubs or as a fantastic hedge!
Bigleaf Hydrangeas change color depending on the pH of your soil. Classic bright pink in alkaline soil and bold blue in acidic soil. Neutral soil gives you a lovely purple somewhere in between. Reaching a modest 3-4 feet in height and width, these are compact rounded flowering shrubs for the hotter growing zones!
Planting and Application:
Hydrangea shrubs of this size are perfect for container use, pot them up on a sunny balcony or porch, or line large planters around your backyard seating areas for bold color all summer! The large leaves lend a fantastic backdrop for smaller perennials and shrubs throughout the year and are ideal as facer shrubs to hide bare leggy stems of larger bushes and trees!
Bloomables® Bigleaf Hydrangea are great low borders and edging, so plant a modernized Cottage and perennial garden, in rows along the cooler side of your home or garage’s foundation, along walkways and paths or welcome yourself home by planting them by your front entry or the entrance to your driveway! That way you’ll have plenty to bring indoors as cut flowers.

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Bigleaf Hydrangeas need full sun in cooler areas and appreciate afternoon shade in hot climates. Plant in well-drained, heavily mulched garden beds that have adequate moisture and plenty of fertility. Regluar moisture during the summer is appreciated. Prune Bigleaf Hydrangea after flowering for size control, but you should only prune off dead stems back to a healthy bud in the early spring.
