Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Plant Highlights

Bee Hotel highlights at a glance!

Give Your Bees a Place to Rest

Attract beneficial pollinators and garden bees with help from flowering plants and plenty of habitat. NatureHills.com Bee Hotel is crafted from 100% FSC certified wood from well-managed forests and splinter-free reeds.

Each one comes with 25 mixed Crocus bulbs for an important early spring nectar resource. Plant the Crocus bulbs in fall; then hang the Bee Hotel securely on the east or south side of your garden where it will receive morning sunshine.

Planting and Application:

According to the USDA, there are over 4000 native bee species in North America. One out of every three bites of food you eat require pollinators; so it's exciting that more people are waking up to the critical role that bees play in food crop pollination.

  • We like to say that every little bit helps, including adding a welcome spot of bright, cheery color as the snow melts in early spring! Plant your Crocus bulb mix near your front door or weave them along your garden path...you'll love the perfectly coordinated hues just as much as the bees will!
  • Study our extensive online catalog for more bee-friendly nectar flowering plants, such as Bee Balm (Monarda). We're thrilled to offer so many nectar-rich choices like Black-Eyed Susan (Rudbeckia), Sedum, Hyssop (Agastache) and many more on our ecologically-responsible website.
  • Get more information on planning a Pollinator Garden!. Even people with small yards can help support bees...simply by keeping hardy containers filled with the bee favorites of white, yellow and blue flowers on your balcony or courtyard.
  • This new naturalized Bee and Butterfly Garden style makes a big difference in your Victory Garden, too. Add native Mountain Mint to a whiskey barrel planter near your fruit trees...you'll be amazed at the season-long activity surrounding it.

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Plan for a succession of blooms to keep local bee populations healthy and avoid cross-contamination from heavily-trafficked flowers. Don't forget to include shrubs with extended bloom time like beautiful Rose bushes, as well!

  • Reduce the amount of pesticides used in your landscape and learn how to live with pollinators in your garden. Providing Mason bee habitat is particularly helpful for efficient pollination, and they rarely sting.
  • Bees have short tongues, and appreciate flowers with narrow, tubular shapes found in Crocus bulbs; along with Hebe and Ceanothus shrubs. As a bonus, jewel-toned Hummingbirds love this type of flower form, too!
  • Fall-planted bulbs should be planted three times as deep as the length of the bulb with the pointy end facing up. If you can't tell which is the pointy end; simply place it sideways in the planting hole...plants are actually pretty smart and forgiving!
