Encore® Autumn Angel® Azalea, (Rhododendron 'Robleg'), is an exceptional Encore Azalea variety with re-blooming, snowy white flowers, and broad-leaved evergreen nature. Use a few of these for an outstanding hedge along your driveway or plant just one for an adorable accent near your front door.

Your Encore® Autumn Angel® Azalea is resplendent in pure white, iridescent flowers nine months of the year. The lightly scented, 3-inch blooms are divinely accented against Autumn Angel's® dark green, glossy foliage. It's a show-stopping display you have to see to believe! Your butterflies and Hummingbirds will love this Azalea, and so will you for its ease of care and adaptability to a variety of conditions!

The long bloom period is a huge advantage in your Azalea over more common varieties, but there's even more! When many Azaleas are dropping their leaves for a dismal winter presence in the yard, your Autumn Angel® will maintain its broad-leaved evergreens appearance, its warm, green tones a delight for your winter landscape.

Planting and Application:

An Autumn Angel® Azalea by itself will look extraordinary in your landscape, but pair its pristine white flowers with the deeper colors of other Encore® Azaleas for a spectacular, contrasting display. On a small lot, use just one for a specimen or as vivid anchors throughout your landscape. They'll brighten your foundation plantings and privacy hedges, as well as add bright white blooms to mixed-shrub borders. Mass this choice Rhododendron in long, informal hedges to define your outdoor spaces.

Why not use these as a pretty backdrop for your Rose Garden and Cottage borders? Enjoy being creative with this year-round stand-out! Think in terms of layers and multi-purpose uses for all sides of these lovely broad-leaved evergreens. Flowering privacy screens are worth their weight in gold! Use it to hide nosy neighbors along your patio seating. Speaking of neighbors, they'll appreciate a "friendly fence' along your property line.

  • Snowy-White Blooms & Three-Season Reblooming
  • Dark Glossy Green Broad-Leaved Evergreen Foliage
  • Bee, Butterfly & Hummingbird Friendly
  • Large Spreading Rounded Shrub
  • Early Spring Color, Specimens, Accents & Year-Round Evergreen Color

#ProPlantTips For Care

Among slow-growing Azaleas, Autumn Angel® Azalea is a bit faster, so you can see results in less time. Autumn Angel® will even do well in part shade or sun! Although it thrives in cooler regions, it's a good idea to give them protection from the worst of the strong winter winds. However, you don't want to crowd them, as they do need good air circulation. Well-drained soil is a must. Ensure their roots have life-long symbiotic support with Nature Hills Root Booster used during planting. Remember not to plant these shallow-rooted plants too deeply. Mound them up in a hill of extra soil; leaving an inch or two of the root ball showing.

You'll then bring a three-inch layer of mulch up around the base of the plant. Last, pull the mulch back away from touching the stems. Water consistently during the first season. Thereafter, you'll want to give them regular deep drinks when the weather gets dry.

Prune to shape, but wait until after the blooms are finished! Don't wait too long, as you might accidentally trim off next year's flowers. Weed your plantings regularly. Avoid underplanting near your Roseum Elegans Rhododendron to give the roots room to spread. Feed with slow-release fertilizer for acid-loving, ericaceous plants. Follow the label directions for timing and application rates.

  • Full Sun & Partial Shade & Cold Tolerant
  • Acidic Well-Drained Soil
  • Moderate Moisture & Mulched Beds
  • Appreciates Mulch
  • Prune Immediately After Spring Flowers Fade

With so many choices in Azaleas these days, it can be hard to choose just one. Get your own snowy-white Encore® Autumn Angel® Azalea from Nature Hills today! It is a particularly good choice for its fast-growing, adaptive, and re-blooming nature!

Azalea and Rhododendron Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the best place to plant an Azaleas?

Azaleas and Rhododendrons prefer partial shade (both dappled shade all day or morning sun with afternoon shade). Plant in a slightly acidic, consistently moist, enriched, and well-drained soil location for best results. Their shallow roots dislike soggy soil but thrive with a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch over their surface.

How big does an Azaleas get?

Encore® Autumn Angel® Azalea can grow 4-5 feet in height and 3-4 feet in width, when grown in optimal conditions.

Are Azaleas low maintenance?

Azalea and Rhododendron shrubs are very easy to grow and low maintenance. Water during drought, prune only after flowering and fertilize with an acid-loving organic, slow-release flowering plant fertilizer.

What is the difference between Rhododendrons and Azaleas?

All Azaleas are Rhododendrons but not all Rhodondendrons are Azaleas. Azalea tends to be smaller-sized with smaller leaves and stems, while Rhododendrons can be larger with stout branching and larger bloom trusses. There can both be either deciduous or broad-leaved evergreens.
