Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

The National Audubon Society presents a new line of native plants and trees that helps birds and wildlife thrive in your area! The Audubon® Native Steeplebush (Spiraea tomentosa) is an ornamental mound-shaped native deciduous shrub that readily forms a thicket of upright, slender, wand-like stems that display orangy-red and yellow stems for winter interest.

The dense plumes of pinkish-purple flowers appear on the ends of each branch, while the great texture of the foliage, with decorative scalloped edges, grow in its namesake steeple shape. The sight of the wand-like plumes waving in the breeze looks enchanting!

Mid to late summer, pollinators congregate for pollen and may even attract a hummingbird or two! Attracting droves of pollinators and other insect larvae that birds eat sustains them and their chicks!
