Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

The National Audubon Society presents a new line of native plants and trees that will help birds and wildlife thrive in your area! The lovely Audubon® Native Coralberry Bush (Symphoricarpos orbiculatus) gets its name from the clusters of small showy fruits that hang on well into winter. They catch the eye of songbirds looking for a meal!

This low-growing ornamental produces attractive clusters of coral-pink to purple berries. Remaining on the plant through the winter, giving rise to other common names such as Buckbrush, Indian Currant, Devil's Shoestring, Buckberry, Snowberry, Snapberry, Waxberry, and Turkey bush.

The small white mid-summer flowers attract a host of butterflies and pollinators before the fruit arrives in late summer. For a neat winter décor, the berry-laden stems look great in floral arrangements. Besides having significant winter interest, it is an important Wildlife Shrub! Songbirds, ground birds and small mammals use this plant for food, cover, and nesting.

Planting and Application:

The Coralberry is an excellent plant for shady areas. It has a natural look that works well in informal gardens. Mound-shaped, they add interest to woodland gardens and naturalized areas. Add to cutting gardens, Pollinator Gardens, cottage borders, as hedges and groupings! Its adaptability to moist soil makes them great Rain Garden plants.

Because they sucker freely and form a fibrous network of roots that binds the soil, Coralberry prevents erosion on slopes or streambanks. A valuable host for butterflies and moths, including fascinating Clearwing Moths.
