Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

We’re proud to introduce the National Audubon Society line of native trees that have been selected to help birds and wildlife in your area! The largest and oldest North American native is the Audubon® Native American Sycamore Tree (Platanus occidentalis)! Also called the London Plane Tree, the equally large leaves and unique peeling white bark create a mottled look that is sure to draw attention to your yard!

The threatened Cerulean Warbler prefers this mighty tree and cavity-nesting birds like Owls, Woodpeckers, and Wood Ducks often find a home among the branches, and Finches, Chickadees, and Juncos eat the seed balls that appear.

These fluffy “buttonballs” dangle from the branches, persisting through winter for four-season interest. In the spring they fall to the ground, craft ready for holiday ornaments, wreaths, bird feeders...whatever your imagination can create!

Planting and Application:

Its exceptionally rapid growth and immense size make it an excellent choice as a central focal point in your yard! These energy-saving Shade Trees cool your home in the summer, while the broad limbs and high-reaching canopy creates a majestic profile!

A fantastic Tree for Backyard Birds, Sycamores provide shelter, nesting and food! Not just the seeds, but insects for their chicks too! Because Sycamores are fantastic Host Plants for many Moth and Butterfly larvae including the Sycamore Tussock Moth.

  • Immense Size & Spread & Large Distinct Leaves
  • Decorative Seed Pods For Crafts & Bird Food
  • Peeling Bark & Winter Interest
  • Thrives in Urban Conditions & Air Pollution
  • Fantastic Shade & Specimen Tree

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Sycamore Tree thrives in zones 4-9 and can attain a towering 70-100 feet tall at maturity! Highly adaptable natives that only need well-drained soil and full sun. It's tolerant of air pollution, so this tree would even thrive on a city lot.

  • Prune When Dormant
  • Plant in Enriched, Well-Drained Soil & Moderate Moisture
  • Mulch Well for Moisture Retention & Insulation
  • Towering Size & Easy Care

This bird-friendly native tree provides food and shelter for local and migrating birds, as well as other wildlife. Purchasing and planting native flora supports the Audubon®’s conservation mission and impact, while helping birds and wildlife thrive!
