The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

The best garden designs rely on contrast. Moving from rough to fine and dense to airy - mixing textures is an easy way to draw the eye along the garden path. Arkansas Blue Star (Amsonia hubrichtii) is a wonderful native plant to use in the front of the border to provide a tremendous amount of visual interest.
You'll fall in love with the open, delicate foliage. The feathery fronds are bedecked with star-shaped periwinkle blue flowers in late spring. This is a butterfly magnet, and you'll delight in how they flock to the tiny flowers.
Fantastic bright green foliage features tall waving stems with long narrow grassy leaves. You'll also appreciate the performance Arkansas Amsonia displays in autumn when that lovely foliage turns a blazing golden yellow fall color. You’ll also enjoy unique seed pods for further winter interest!
How to Use Arkansas Blue Star In The Landscape
This is a fine-textured plant contributing graceful motion and air to your garden. Use it in front of ornamental grasses as a softer counterpart and to accentuate the gentle swaying and motion as the breeze rustles through the landscape.
It can set off a larger, rougher shrub such as Ninebark just beautifully, where together they can set your autumn landscape off with their combined brilliant colors. Soft baby blues and greens also are fantastic to set off plants with larger leaves and evergreens!
Plant it as a single specimen plant or mass multiples as a tall edging plant in your mixed border for a stunning 3 season display. Ideal for Perennial planting beds and Cottage gardens, Pollinator and Cutting garden plantings, as well as Native prairie and meadows.
Cut the blooms after they are fully open. Use them in lovely flower arrangements indoors. This is a great way to deadhead your plants. You'll encourage a new flush of blooms, and decorate your home at the same time.
Add these soothing plants around your outdoor rooms and retreats to unwind the nerves and quiet the mind with sound, texture, color, scent, motion and privacy!
The elusive blue color is a soothing and tranquil hue that sets off and melds with so many other colors in the garden. Enliven Rock gardens and large Planters with sublime color!
#ProPlantTips For Care
Plant this in well-drained soils that receive adequate water for best results. It can handle a bit of part shade, but you'll get the best fall color in full sun. Hardy in USDA growing zones 5-9, those in warmer climates will find their Blue Star performing better in part sun with shade in the afternoon.
These hardy native perennials are tolerant of a wide range of soils and quite drought tolerant once established. Provide plenty of water during that crucial establishment period, then provide moderate waterings during times of need.
For a hardy native perennial that features fine, graceful and airy texture and the highly sought-after true blue color, you’ll be delighted when you add the Arkansas Blue Star to your landscape today at NatureHills.com!
