Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Most Redbuds have purple-pink buds, but the Appalachian Red Redbud Tree (Cercis canadensis 'Appalachian Red') stays true to its name with blooms that appear to be pretty red with a pink tint. These early blooms support butterflies and early-emerging pollinators with crucial nectar!

This Redbud is quite the looker with its single stem base and springtime pea-like blooms that are radiant across your landscaping eliminating any room for dullness. Try forcing some stems indoors this winter to start enjoying these trees sooner!

Throughout the summer season, the tree takes on the coloration of dark blue-green, heart-shaped foliage, but eventually fades into a yellow coloration as the chilly fall weather approaches. Hardy throughout USDA planting zones 4-9, these mid-sized trees put on a display without worrying about deer, pests, and diseases!

Landscape Application:

The Appalachian Red Redbud has a dramatic variety of colors that look absolutely stunning against a white background, such as a white picket fence, garage, or barn. Highly ornamental trees to begin with, Redbuds are pretty common, but this one outperforms the rest with the endless elegance that radiates throughout each season!

Growing 15 - 25 feet tall and wide, these brilliant trees can fit into all sized yards, and provide shade and even privacy depending on how low you keep the branching! Planting near your favorite relaxing spot in your backyard will give you quite the view when enjoying your peace and quiet time - even the pollinators will appreciate this beauty!

  • Spring Pea-Like Reddish-Pink Blooms
  • Dark Blue-Green Heart-Shaped Summer Foliage
  • Yellow Fall Foliage & Unique Branching
  • Pollinator Friendly!
  • Immaculate Accent Against A White Background, Specimens, Shade & Focal Points

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Redbuds are adaptable and are generally easy to grow! Plant your tree in a well-drained location with full sun to a touch of partial/afternoon shade if you live in a hotter climate. Provide new trees with regular moisture, especially during their first year in the ground with a 3-4 inch deep layer of arborist mulch around the entire root system.

Once established, your tree will only need supplemental moisture during extreme heat and drought conditions. Prune when needed in the spring as soon as the flowers have finished putting on their show.

  • Best in Full Sun or Partial Shade
  • Well-Drained Soils
  • Moderate Moisture Needs
  • Prune Immediately After Flowering
  • Widely Adaptable & Easy To Care For
  • Deer Don't Prefer the Taste
