This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Blue Ice Amsonia (Amsonia 'Blue Ice') is a sophisticated little native perennial that makes a perfect mass planting. This is a high value plant, and still a bit rare in general usage.
Good, that "best kept secret" status elevates it to a prestige status. We bet those garden designers with clients in exclusive neighborhoods would hate to see this variety become common enough for the big box stores.
Of course, Nature Hills knows all about this pretty plant. We actually supply those garden designers with loads of them to use in their designs all across the country.
Well, now you can buy this 3-season beauty for yourself and get the same elegant benefits for your landscape.
You'll love the star-shaped, dark lavender blue flowers in early spring, followed by cool-toned, dark green foliage all summer long.
The shape of this plant is tidy and compact. No need to do anything as mundane as staking this plant. It stands at attention and won't flop or fall with enough sun.
In autumn, you get another big display. The fall color is an absolutely electrifying bright yellow. This elegant variety truly provides three great seasons of color and texture in your garden.

How to Use Blue Ice Amsonia in the Landscape
This is a wonderful plant to edge perennial borders or include as a low filler under foundation shrubs. Allow it to shine for you in bloom and again in fall. Throughout the summer, it acts as a beautiful supporting actor with sturdy stems and willow-like leaves.
This plant is unattractive to both deer and rabbits. Interplant the Amsonia Blue in amongst your other perennials to help control deer in your perennial beds.
You'll love how fast a mass planting fills in with this gorgeous variety. It grows well and spreads nicely to fill ground beautifully. The lush foliage crowds out other plants and weeds.
This gives a very modern look that is perfect for commercial settings, as well. For fastest results, plant them 18 inches apart, measuring from the center of one plant, to the center of the next.
Use as an a memorable, unique "Filler" in large container gardens on your patio or flanking your front entrance. No need to replace it for the autumn season, as the yellow fall foliage will bring welcoming warmth to the look.
#ProPlantTips for Care
Give it full sun for best results, although it's adaptable to a little light shade. Too much shade will cause it to flop, so please site it carefully.
This hybrid variety was discovered as a chance seedling in a block of Amsonia tabernaemontana with the other parent plant unknown. The obvious differences with the parent plant was the compact habit, with a longer flowering time and more vigorous growth rate. All these new traits came to make this already popular plant species that much more desirable.
They thrive in average soil in full sun to part shade. The only pruning necessary is to cut the seed heads off in the fall, unless you want more seedlings to expand the planting. This native plant loves to reseed.
Choose a location with well-drained soil. After they are established, the dense foliage acts as a cover to keep the root cool and evaporation low. It will show tolerance to drought but drag out the hose and give it a drink to protect your investment in long periods without rain.
This plant loves organically active soil to get started in. We highly recommend using Nature Hills Root Booster as you plant Blue Ice Amsonia.
You'll love this beautiful plant! Don't be surprised to see some pop up in your neighbor's yard a year or two after you get yours planted.
