Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.
This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Growing Zones 7-10
Spiky balls of concentric rugged beauty, the Parry's Agave Plant (Agave parryi) is a unique and beneficial desert plant that looks fantastic in your Xeric landscape and sunny gardens! The bold blue-green leaves form tight rosettes of plump, succulent leaves, each accented by a black edge of toothy short spines.
Growing 1-2 feet tall and 2-3 feet wide in time, these slow-growing succulent plants are exceptionally useful additions to drought-prone climates. With a rich history among indigenous tribes as weaving material and food, the strong architectural growth and form stand out as an impressive landscaping plant in some of the harshest conditions your garden can throw at them!
Even though these plants rarely bloom, Parry's Agave has incredibly high amounts of sweet nectar in their spires of yellow flower clusters! This is beneficial for a wide variety of pollinators, bees, and Nectar Bats! The nectar is also used to make a natural sugar substitute called Agave Nectar and all parts of the plant are considered to be edible by wildcrafters! The leaves even have saponins and suds up like soap!
These long-lived plants earned the name Century Plant because of their longevity! Hardy throughout a wide range of arid USDA growing zones from 7 through 10! Handling brief chill and snow, but appreciate some cover if the snow or frost plans on sticking around.
Planting and Application:
An interesting perennial succulent native to the deserts of North and Central America. Thick rigid leaves are silvery blue-silvery green leaves with a short dark spine on the tips to keep trespassers from crossing boundaries and encourage foot traffic to stay on a pathway.
Parry's Agave is an incredible formal accent when spaced in orderly groupings or rows, but also looks great mixed among other succulents, Agaves, and Xeric plants in Rock Gardens and arid climate gardens too! Plant large swaths of these curiosities en masse for a unique and low-maintenance display.
Pot up as a unique planter or container specimen and kick things up a notch by planting pairs on either side of your steps or sunny front door in large urns! Hot sunny front gardens and foundation plantings gain a low-maintenance and very showy accent!
Agave may not flower unless very happy (and much older) but if it does, the main plant will die and will produce 'pups' or 'daughter' plants at the base that you can transplant around your garden and into containers and houseplants and patio accents.
- Blue-Green Upright Succulent Leaves
- Dark Edges With Small Spines
- Rare Yellow Nectar-Rich Blooms For Bats & Pollinators
- Unique Xeric Container & Rock Garden Accent
- Formal & Whimsical Texture & Architectural Specimens Plants
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Parry's Agave needs consistently sunny locations and well-drained soils, anything soggy or shady will spell disaster. Water new plants regularly using the Finger Test method to avoid over-watering. Trim any damaged leaves away at the base of the plant or trim off smaller portions that have died back to clean up the mound.
- Full Sun
- Very Well-Drained Soil
- Low Maintenance & Easy Care
- Tolerates Salt & Drought
- Deer Seldom Bother With These Plants
