Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

First blush, the FrostKiss™ Penny's Pink® Hellebore (Helleborus x 'EPBRD01') is a late winter and early spring perennial darling! The soft smoky-pinkish plum and chartreuse blossoms shyly nod down on their tall, slender purple stems, often popping up right through the melting late winter snows!

Penny's Pink® forms tight, compact mounds of dark green foliage with lighter green veins, giving these compact gems a two-tone effect. The blooms are a treat for early emerging pollinators and the shower of yellow stamen at the centers of each blossom is a welcome landing pad!

The FrostKiss™ series of flowering Hellebore have been selected for their tolerance of more sun in cooler summers than their shade-loving counterparts. Adding a breath of fresh color to the dreary winter landscape, while brightening spring borders. Often, in mild winters, the foliage can remain evergreen!

Planting and Application:

Hellebores are ideal companions with early spring bulbs and for planting among later emerging perennials and shrubs. The burst of fresh color is a welcome sight, and the later arriving foliage of the other plants is a welcome shade for these shade-loving darlings! Intersperse throughout perennial and cottage borders where they will slowly spread and ramble among the other plants.

Penny's Pink® is also fantastic long-stemmed blooms for bouquets, so be sure to include a few extras in your garden and planters for the first floral arrangements of the year. Deadheading keeps the blooms returning most of the spring for an extended flowering time! Shade gardens and Zen gardens alike benefit from the elegance and classic beauty of these woodland wildflowers.

  • Smokey Pink & Chartreuse Blooms
  • Long Purple Stems
  • Late Winter/Early Spring Blooms
  • Mounded Compact Clumps
  • Evergreen in Mild Winters & Tolerates More Sun

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Hellebores tolerate full sun in mild summers, preferring filtered sun and partial shade, even full shade in the hottest of its growing zone range. Plant in a well-drained, cool, moist soil that won’t dry out and mulch the bed very well. Deadhead for more return blooms.

  • Full Sun in Cool Summers, Part Shade & Full Shade
  • Evenly Moist Well-Drained Soil
  • Well Mulched Beds
  • Clean Mounds in Very Early Spring
  • Deer Resistant
