The EverColor® Eversheen Carex (carex oshimensis 'Eversheen') is a variety of Sedge from EverColor® that is sure to live up to their typical quality standards. This Sedge, in particular, hails from Japanese heritage, lending it additional cold hardiness!
This plant's foliage consists of long, arcing blades of grass-like stems with deep green margins and a lime-yellow center. This particular Sedge gets its name "Eversheen" from its uniquely glossy appearance which is a sight to behold as it waves in the wind!
The striped foliage of the EverColor® Eversheen Carex is sure to be an attractive contribution to your garden! This eye-catching sedge stays shiny and vibrant all season long.
Hardy throughout USDA planting zones 5 to 9, growing 12 - 18 inches in height and width. The graceful arch of the Sedge's foliage at mature length is a real eye-catcher throughout the year. This plant is particularly self-sufficient, able to get by with just the right amount of water and very little trimming. Keep this plant well-watered until it takes to its new home, then sit back and enjoy the view as it grows and shimmers in the summer breeze!
The EverColor® Eversheen Carex is adapted for partial shade to full shade. Long exposure to full sun will yellow the blades of Grass over time.
It is important to keep this Sedge's soil moist during the warmer months. Too much water staying for too long can be hazardous to this plant's health too, so be sure to use well-drained soil when possible.
This plant is remarkably resistant to Deer and rabbits which tend to leave this plant alone, so fencing in your Sedge should be unnecessary. While the EverColor® Sedges are also mostly disease-resistant and can still be susceptible to insects. Keep an eye on your plant for signs of aphid damage and be ready to transfer some ladybugs to your garden if the need arises.
This plant grows fairly controlled and has little need for pruning except for the occasional snip. If your plant looks like it could use a haircut, make sure to complete it during the early summer so you don't damage any new growth.
