Large Pawpaws with a refreshing flavor, the unique Rappahannock ®Pawpaw (Asimina triloba 'Rappahannock') is the fruit tree that you have been waiting for. You will look forward to Fall, just like the Native Americans have, for the large, yellow fruit to ripen. The Pawpaw tree fruit is delicious! The largest edible native to the United States, but few have tasted its delicious fruit.

It is a member of the Custard Apple family, which also includes a number of tropical favorites. Keeping that topical look, these trees are gorgeous ornamentals for front and back yard landscaping!

Once your Paw Paw tree starts to bear its large fruit, you will enjoy its sweet and refreshing flavor, and you will also notice that the few seeds that it has are easy to scoop out with a spoon!

Planting and Application:

The reddish-purple blossoms might not smell the best, but the bell-shaped blooms will bring a wide variety of butterflies to your garden for you to watch. Exotic flavor and exotic foliage on a hardy native tree that’s been nearly forgotten to modern orchards!

Your Rappahannock Pawpaw will not self-pollinate, so you will have to buy it a friend - choose another Pawpaw that is not genetically the same.

The Rappahannock Pawpaw, unlike its tropical relatives, is cold hardy and will grow well in sun or shade. It does well in most types of soil.

It isn't bothered by diseases or insects, so you won't have to spend time spraying it. Its large crop of early ripening fruit will not make you wait too long to enjoy its delicious and nutritious fruit.
